Actor's wife 'distraught' as she confirms husband is still alive after announcing death

Actor Tony Dow is still alive, it has been confirmed, despite his wife issuing a statement confirming the Leave it to Beaver star's death. According to TMZ, the actor, producer and director best known for playing Wally Cleaver on the hit American sitcom is still alive, but is in his "last hours" as he receives hospice care for liver cancer. The confusion over his death reportedly came after his "distraught" wife Lauren believed he had died, and had informed his management.
A statement confirming his death was subsequently put out on his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning, however it has since been deleted. The statement read: "Tony was a beautiful soul - kind, compassionate, funny and humble. It was truly a joy to just be around him.
His gentle voice and unpretentious manner was immediately comforting and you could not help but love him.The world has lost an amazing human being, but we are all richer for the memories that he has left us.
