Manchester City fell to a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday, ending their hopes of winning a treble.
Individual errors and an inability to escape Liverpool's intense pressing contributed to City's first half collapse, but one man who emerged from the game with nothing but praise was Nathan Ake. The Dutch defender has largely struggled for game time and consistency since City signed him in 2020 for £41m, but in recent weeks he has put in a number of solid displays both at centre-back and left-back.
Ake impressed up against the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, and even made a couple of last-ditch tackles to keep the score down. After the game, City fans on Twitter were quick to single out the 27-year-old for praise.

@RobinWagner22: What a professional. Didn't complain once about game time and is still delivering the goods whenever called upon. I knew 40 million was a bargain.
@SoBeeHarv: You’re really getting stronger and stronger each game, Nathan. Keep improving upon your craft, and making the most of every opportunity on the pitch. So happy for you, brotha!
@Horwichbloke19: One of our better performers today Nathan. No need to apologize.
