ABC’s breakout new comedy series Abbott Elementary is carrying the flag for broadcast television at the 2022 Emmy Awards as the only network show to land a nomination in the Outstanding Comedy or Drama Series categories. While many creators gravitate toward streaming these days, Abbott Elementary creator/executive producer Quinta Brunson is happy to be doing her show for broadcast.

At The Disco are also due to hit the road for a 40-date worldwide arena tour, with stops in Europe, the UK, and North America from September.The dates will mark the band’s return to NYC’s Madison Square Garden, LA’s Kia Forum, and London’s The O2. MARINA, Jake Wesley Rogers, and Beach Bunny are set to open for select dates.

Roku today unveiled a still announcing the casting of Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) as media mogul Oprah Winfrey in its buzzy musical biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Brunson joins an ensemble led by Daniel Radcliffe, which also includes Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, Julianne Nicholson and Toby Huss, as previously announced.

Quinta Brunson and ABC are being sued for copyright infringement for the Emmy-nominated series. According to court documents obtained by The Post, Christine Davis filed the suit, claiming that the hit show is a “veritable knock-off” of her show called “This School Year.”Filed July 12, Davis alleges that she wrote her script — based in a New York City public school — in 2018 and registered with the copyright office in early 2020.
