A nine-year-old boy has died after being struck by lightning as he played football.
Several police vehicles and an air ambulance were called to football pitches off School Road in Blackpool shortly after 5pm on Tuesday to reports a child had been injured, LancsLive reports.
Police believe the boy had been struck by lightning during a thunderstorm.
He was rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries'.
