EXCLUSIVE: Israeli romcom drama series The Baker and the Beauty is being remade for France’s TF1, with French singer-songwriter Amir Haddad playing the lead in his debut TV role.

EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are looking to continue telling Blue Beetle stories via an animated series currently in development, sources close to production tell Deadline. Miguel Puga (The Casagrandes) has been working on the project since early this year and will serve as the project’s showrunner and director with Cristian Martinez (Women of the Movement, Good Trouble) set as writer.

Animation studio focus panel at the Annecy Animation Festival, Variety has learned that Cartoon Network Studios (CNS) is working on three new “Adventure Time” properties, including a movie and two new series. Currently in development, details are still scant regarding the “Adventure Time” movie, but the project features an animation superstar lineup of talent including “Steven Universe” creator Rebecca Sugar, “Over the Garden Wall” co-creator Patrick McHale and “Adventure Time” showrunner Adam Muto.

Ben Croll “Fast X” and “Lupin” director Louis Leterrier will make his animation debut with “The Chimera Brigade,” an action/sci-fi series that pulls from European folklore and pop culture and turns a simple comic-book premise: What if Marie Curie’s discoveries help birth the world’s first superheroes? Leterrier will co-direct with Antoine Charreyron (“Batwheels”), while Ron Dyens of Sacrebleu Productions acts as lead producer. The project is adapted from an award-winning comic series written by Serge Lehman and Fabrice Colin and illustrated by Gallic artist Gess.

Alex Ritman “How to Have Sex” breakout and newly-crowned BAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce has landed her next major role. The British actress is set to lead the cast of “The Seven Dials Mystery,” Netflix‘s upcoming Agatha Christie series written by “Broadchurch” creator and former “Doctor Who” showrunner Chris Chibnall, Variety has learned. Joining McKenna-Bruce are Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman.

Selome Hailu Netflix is developing an animated series based on the wildly popular sandbox video game “Minecraft.” The streamer will produce the project alongside Mojang Studios, the Swedish developer of the game. Plot details are not yet known, but according to Netflix, the series “will feature an original story with new characters, showing the world of ‘Minecraft’ in a new light.” The series, which will be CG-animated, is in development with WildBrain, the Canadian studio behind animated Netflix projects including “Sonic Prime,” “Ninjago: Dragons Rising” and “Carmen Sandiego.” In 2022, Netflix debuted a revival of WildBrain’s “Johnny Test,” which originally ran on the WB and later on Cartoon Network for six seasons from 2005 to 2014.
