My guest this week is Rebecca Ferguson. She recently reprised her role of Lady Jessica with Dune: Part Two, and plays the lead role in Silo, Apple TV+‘s dystopian series about a community gone underground following an apocalyptic event. Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer-reluctantly-turned-sheriff, who uncovers alarming secrets while investigating a mysterious death.
Here, Ferguson describes the “intoxicating” experience of making the show, working with showrunner Graham Yost and her EP role, plus the elaborate and stunning sets and VFX work that went into it all.
As for Season 2 plans, how close will the show adhere to Hugh Howey’s original book series, on which it’s based? “I couldn’t possibly say,” Ferguson laughs, “but can you guess? No, don’t guess!”
Ferguson also addresses whether her character of Ilsa Faust would ever make a posthumous appearance in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two…
And, as always on the podcast, we uncover some little-known facts, including Ferguson’s childhood card-playing expertise, her crush on Leonardo DiCaprio, the show she’d take with her into a nuclear bunker, and why she’d like Albert Einstein to invite her dinner.

Rebecca Ferguson is becoming close to a household name. O.K., maybe “close” is a slight exaggeration, but her profile is bigger than her social media presence, and that’s primarily because her resume over the past decade is filled with one banger after another.
Filmmaker James Mangold (“Ford V. Ferrari,” “Logan”) is seemingly working at a furious pace.

Under the Bridge, then you know she gives a harrowing performance as Cam Bentland, a no-frills cop in Victoria, British Columbia, with an emotionally charged past. As a law enforcement officer who takes it upon herself to investigate the death of 14-year-old Reena Virk, it's a mentally draining role that requires a certain kind of headspace—one that I imagine any psychologist would urge their client not to wade in for extended periods of time. For better or worse then, Gladstone got a crash course in compartmentalizing her Under the Bridge filming experience when she for the world premiere of Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival last May.
With “Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver” hitting Netflix tomorrow, Zack Snyder is making the press rounds to promote his latest film. But the most intriguing stuff he talked about on the Happy Sad Confused podcast didn’t have anything to do with “Rebel Moon” at all.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Rebecca Ferguson went viral during her “Dune: Part Two” press tour in late February after she revealed on the “Reign With Josh Smith” podcast that she once had an “idiot” co-star who made her cry on set. The story led to a guessing game across social media platforms where people tried to figure out who exactly Ferguson was talking about, although the actor recently said on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show” that she was “not expecting” that to be the takeaway from her comments. “Number one, yes, I kind of enjoyed the grab,” Ferguson admitted.

“This is not just a film that I’ve created a character and done and left. It’s a show that I am so involved in that I love it beyond anything and everyone,” says Rebecca Ferguson at Deadline’s Contenders TV panel for Silo. “It’s really thought-provoking, philosophical, psychological.”

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic She is still Shelby Lynne.
