Kate Middleton almost made wedding faux pas — but Camilla intervened

whispers of friction between the newly-crowned queen consort and the Princess of Wales, allegedly spurred by the small number of guests Middleton was permitted to invite to the coronation of King Charles III on May 6.But, years ago, Camilla, 75, is said to have been a font of royal support for Middleton, 41, ahead of her April 2011 nuptials to Prince William, 40. In fact, just two months before Middleton’s big day, Camilla, who married King Charles III, now 74, in 2005, stopped her future daughter-in-law from making a fashion faux pas. While enjoying friendly luncheon at the Berkeley Hotel in Knightsbridge, Camilla was reportedly overheard saying to Middleton, “If I can give you one bit of advice…,” according to a diner who eavesdropped on their chat. Per the snoop, the two royals, who were accompanied by Camilla’s daughter, Laura, and Middleton’s sister, Pippa, were excitedly discussing wedding plans in the public space. “They were all getting on very well and they clearly hadn’t asked for an out-of-the-way table and nor did they attempt to lower their voices,” said the sleuth, according to the DailyMail, adding that the ladies lovingly held hands and laughed together during their chat.  When Middleton allegedly revealed that she’d was planning to wear flowers in her hair for her royal wedding, Camilla reportedly urged her against the blooms, advising that a tiara would be more appropriate. The soon-to-be British ruler also suggested that her own manicurist, Marina Sandoval from the Jo Hansford hair salon in Mayfair, give Middleton a $45 “signature manicure” before her holy matrimony.Camilla was also said to have gifted the would-be princess a gold charm-style bracelet with a small disc engraved with their royal cyphers —

The Partnership: Ken Loach And Paul Laverty On ‘The Old Oak’, Their Return To The North East Of England & The Chance To Make History By Winning A Third Palme D’Or

Only nine directors have ever won the Palme d’Or twice. Francis Ford Coppola did it in the ’70s with The Conversation and Apocalypse Now. Ruben Östlund joined the club last year after following The Square with Triangle of Sadness. But this year, there is a very real possibility that, at 86, Ken Loach may go above and beyond that by winning a third Palme for his new film, The Old Oak. Loach first won in 2006 with the historical Irish drama The Wind That Shakes the Barley, then doubled up in 2016 with I, Daniel Blake, a caustic study of Britain’s healthcare crisis. After that came Sorry, We Missed You, a no-less withering look at the punitive gig economy. Like the latter two films, The Old Oak is set in the North East of England and completes an unofficial trilogy, this time with a slightly more optimistic bent. Like all of Loach’s output since 1996, it was written by Paul Laverty, and the pair sat down with Damon Wise to discuss the film’s themes of humanity and social responsibility.

Tobias Menzies on How ‘An Awful Lot of Therapy’ Helped Him Prep for ‘You Hurt My Feelings’ and Why He Thinks Prince Philip Never Saw ‘The Crown’

Naman Ramachandran British actor Tobias Menzies, Emmy winner for Netflix’s “The Crown,” will next be seen in A24’s “You Hurt My Feelings,” directed by Nicole Holofcener. In the film, which bowed at Sundance earlier this year, Menzies plays Don, a psychologist whose long-standing happy marriage to author Beth (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is upended when she overhears his honest reaction to her latest book. Menzies says that the initial brief provided by Holofcener was about a key aspect of his character – his insecurities about his looks and ageing. Going into the project, both Menzies and Holofcener, whose credits include comedy-drama films “Walking and Talking” (1996), “Friends with Money” (2006) and “Enough Said” (2013), were already keen to work with each other. The director cast the London-born star after watching “This Way Up,” the BAFTA-winning British television comedy in which he played straight man to stand-up comic Aisling Bea.
