Plans to build 122 new apartments in two housing developments in Stockport have been approved.
The council's planning committee granted permission for the conversion of Lambert House, an office block in Cheadle, into 98 apartments. Additionally, a former kitchen and heating warehouse on Higher Hillgate, near Stockport town centre, will be transformed into 24 affordable apartments.

Coun Rachel Wise expressed her ‘disappointment’ at the Empire Property Concepts' decision not to include affordable housing at the meeting at Stockport Town Hall.
She said: “It is incredibly disappointing that of 98 apartments, they are proposing to include zero affordable housing. It would be really easy for elderly people to walk to the shops to get a coffee.
“It would be a lovely place to live. I am very disappointed in the developer who has failed to do right by the public and provide affordable housing.”
The applicant wants to create two accommodation blocks (A and B) which would be linked by a first floor footbridge on the Stockport Road site.
Block A, which would be four storeys in height and have 68 apartments. Block B would be three storeys in height with 30 apartments.
The residential accommodation will be a mix of one and two bedroom apartments, the committee heard. The development also proposes co-working spaces and a resident’s gym, as well as associated bin storage and amenity space.
There would be 109 car parking spaces on the site for residents to use.
Stockport Homes was granted permission to create an 100 per cent affordable housing scheme on behalf of the council
