Our favorite South Korean superstar acts, including boy bands, girl groups and breakout solo stars, are keeping the year hot with incredible visuals, providing unforgettable music videos in the past few weeks to accompany their hit singles, featuring intricate choreography, futuristic landscapes and plenty of high fashion.
Some of the videos racked up millions upon millions of views in just a matter of mere hours, and are sure to go the distance for the rest of the year.

SEVENTEEN singer Dino will miss the group’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and a concert in Houston, Texas after testing positive for COVID-19.South Korean label Pledis Entertainment published a statement Wednesday (August 17) announcing Dino’s absence from some upcoming promotional activities as he had tested positive for the coronavirus.“Dino took a PCR test in Los Angeles on August 16 (PT) and was confirmed with COVID-19. He is currently experiencing a mild sore throat and has been under self-quarantine and administering self-treatment, away from the other members,” wrote the label in an English statement shared to SEVENTEEN’s official Twitter page.
Michele Amabile Angermiller K-pop group MONSTA X, the artist KAI (of EXO and Super M) and JEON SOMI are among the first performers announced for KAMP LA 2022, a live-music event scheduled for October 15 and 16 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.Behind the event is South Korean company KAMP Global in partnership with Eventim Live Asia.“We want KAMP LA to be the ultimate K-pop experience in all aspects,” said KAMP Global CEO Tim Kim. “U.S. fans have waited so long for great music because of the pandemic — they need to see their favorite artists for the first time in two years in many cases.”Added Eventim Live Asia CEO Jason Miller: “Kim’s vision was immediately exciting.
Squid Game and its lead actor Lee Jung-jae have each bagged an award at this year’s Hollywood Critics Association (HCA) TV Awards.On August 13, the HCA TV Awards broadcasted its 2022 ceremony, where Squid Game won in two of seven categories it was nominated for. The South Korean hit was awarded Best International Series, beating out shows like Apple TV+’s Pachinko, Acapulco, as well as Netflix’s own Lupin, Money Heist and Narcos: Mexico.Its lead actor, Lee Jung-jae, who had starred as Squid Game’s main character, Seong Gi-hun, also took home the award for Best Actor in a Streaming Series.

Junny has unveiled his new single ‘Not About You’, the title track off his newly released album ‘blanc’.On August 12 at 6pm KST, the Korean-Canadian musician dropped the full-length record alongside an accompanying music video for ‘Not About You’, which features Junny and a love interest going through the highs and lows of a romantic relationship.“I ain’t talking about you / Are you still wishing that I’ll be / Writing about all of our memories? / This is the one and only time / I’ll be talking about you,” he croons in the chorus.Consisting of nine brand-new songs, Junny wrote and composed the ‘blanc’ album himself, while the songs ‘Not About You’, ‘Obvious’, ‘Mugshot’, ‘boyhood’ and ‘OH!!.’ credit him on arrangements. minGtion, a frequent Junny collaborator and a producer for NCT, Taeyeon and Red Velvet, also worked on a number of tracks on the record.‘blanc’ marks Junny’s first-ever full-length album since he debuted as a singer in 2017; prior to this, he had only ever released singles and mini-albums, with the most recent record being the two-part ‘Vivid’ series of mini-albums in 2019.The new record was also preceded by two pre-release singles: ‘Get Ya!’ and ‘Color Me’.

CLC rapper Yeeun has revealed plans to make her solo debut sometime “this year”.The K-pop idol recently hosted a Q&A session on her personal Instagram page, during which she was asked by fans about her future plans in music. In response to one fan, she wrote, “I can’t tell you much yet, but I have to start fresh, right?”In response to a separate question asking when she plans to make her solo debut, Yeeun simply responded by writing “this year”.
IZ*ONE member and soloist Choi Yena has released the music video for ‘Smartphone’, the title track of her sophomore mini-album of the same name.In the vibrant visual, Choi is a gamer who guides an avatar of herself through a playground filled with whimsical mascots, eventually stopping at a shooting game inspired by the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.“Mix and match as you like / Airplane in my hands / No matter where you’re going or what you’re going to do, get connected / This star is too narrow to contain me,” Choi sings.Apart from the title track, ‘Smartphone’ includes four other songs – two of which credit Choi as lyrics co-writer. The idol is credited as one of the writers for B-sides ‘Make U Smile’ and ‘WithOrWithout’, as well as title track ‘Smartphone’.

And now the country’s defence minister has suggested maybe BTS members could continue to be involved in the group while also fulfilling their military service obligations.Under South Korean law, all able-bodied men must begin serving around two years in the military at some point between the ages of eighteen and 28.
