Ellise Shafer Netflix has fully committed to the reality dating show craze, announcing a robust year-round slate, including new seasons of “Love Is Blind,” “Love on the Spectrum” and “Indian Matchmaking.”“Love Is Blind,” the second season of which premiered on Feb. 11, has now been renewed for Season 4 and 5.

Netflix is stepping up its game when it comes to affairs of the heart by ordering more Love is Blind and Indian Matchmaking. It also has three new dating shows in the works to complement an already packed romance slate for 2022 and beyond.

Indian Matchmaking host Sima Taparia doesn’t believe the Netflix series lives up to the reality of the system, as she returns to matchmake clients around the world for series two. ‘Aunty Sima from Mumbai’ is back and this time around, she’s reuniting with a few old faces like Pradhyuman Maloo and Nadia Jagessar as well as new ones as she matches biodatas and sets up some dates. Along the way, there’s dating fails, meeting-the-families on a first date, and wish-lists that cover everything under the sun from Taco Bell lovers to man-buns.

“There hasn’t really been a show like this, particularly involving South Asian or Indian culture, so it was difficult,” Indian Matchmaking creator/executive producer Smriti Mundhra said during Deadline’s Contender Television: Documentary + Unscripted award-season event about the daring Netflix series.

Sophia Scorziello editor “Indian Matchmaking” Season 3 will premiere April 21 on Netflix, the streamer announced Tuesday. Mumbai’s matchmaker Sima Taparia returns to help single millennials around the world find love, employing decades-worth of experience and traditional methods. This season, Sima’s matchmaking touch will reach from New York to New Delhi, Miami to London, as well as clients both old and new.  “Indian Matchmaking” premiered its first season in July 2020.
