William Earl For the first time, Variety will host the Inclusion Gathering, presented by the Ruderman Family Foundation, a breakfast on November 2 in Los Angeles featuring conversations that explore how the entertainment industry is developing and producing storytelling that features characters with disabilities and storylines that tie into the disability community. The event will gather leaders in the entertainment industry to discuss how Hollywood can best advocate for the inclusion of the disabled creative community across all categories of entertainment.

The Golden Globes, which is embarking on a new era after it was acquired by Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge from longtime operator the Hollywood Foreign Press Association earlier this summer, on Thursday revealed its new membership board of directors and timeline for the 2024 awards, which take place January 7.

Gray, who will also serve on its board, will work closely with Golden Globes president Helen Hoehne to evolve the entity — which was formed in June, when Dick Clark Prods. and Eldridge Industries acquired the Golden Globes’ assets, rights and properties from the now-defunct Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Ethan Shanfeld Variety garnered a record 96 nominations for the SoCal Journalism awards sponsored by the Los Angeles Press Club, with nods across magazine and entertainment journalism, art and photography, video, audio, online content and social media during the 2022 calendar year. Among the nominations announced Friday were Tim Gray for print journalist of the year and Clayton Davis for online journalist of the year. In addition, Owen Gleiberman, Chris Willman and Daniel D’Addario were nominated as entertainment journalists of the year. “We are extremely proud of our newsroom for a banner year in record-breaking traffic, hard-hitting investigative journalism, profile writing and video.
