Stephen King horror films and his macabre I.P. have always done well in Hollywood— “The Shining,” “Carrie,” “Firestarter,” “Misery,” “Cujo,” “Pet Sematary,” and more—but there’s no denying a new King resurgence has happened in the last fifteen years with a lot of remakes (“Firestarter,” “Carrie,” “Pet Sematary”) some of them incredible successful (the “IT” franchise), some sequels to classic works (“Doctor Sleep”), and much-anticipated adaptations that didn’t quite work (“The Dark Tower”).
Walt Disney just dropped a slew of new release dates, most of which were of the “untitled Disney” variety. It is still nice to know that the studio intends to be releasing animated movies in theaters at least up until the end of 2026, but the one named title is “The Booygeyman.” Penned by “Quiet Place” writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, along with “Black Swan” writer Mark Heyman, the Rob Savage-directed “The Boogeyman” concerns a teen girl and her little sister coping with the death of their mother and struggling to get their grieving father to notice a sadistic presence plaguing their home.
As theatrical shakes off the pandemic, Disney has moved its Rob Savage directed feature adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman from Hulu to the big screen. A release is planned for June 2, 2023.

Gracing the in a range of jewel-toned and pastel hues, up-and-coming actresses Ella Purnell, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, and Liv Hewson cemented their place alongside established stars Christina Ricci and Melanie Lynskey at the 2022 Emmy Awards. is the hit survival drama that unfolds over two timelines: one in the past, when the high school soccer team’s plane crashed in the Canadian Rockies, forcing the stranded teenage girls to do anything to survive; and another in the present, picking up with four adults, who managed to make it out alive nearly 25 years earlier. After an explosive debut, which earned seven Emmy nominations, Showtime renewed the series from creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson for another season. And as anticipation builds for the new episodes, here’s everything we know about season 2: Season 1 starred an ensemble cast, with Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse as the adult and teenage versions of Shauna, respectively; Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown as the adult and teenage versions of Taissa; Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher as the adult and teenage versions of Natalie; as well as Christina Ricci and Sammi Hanratty as the adult and teenage versions of Misty.Other initial survivors included assistant coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger), the late coach’s two sons, Travis (Kevin Alves) and Javi (Luciano Leroux), as well as team members Jackie (Ella Purnell), Van (Liv Hewson), Lottie aka the Antler Queen (Courtney Eaton), Akliah (Keeya King), Laura (Jane Widdop) and Mari (Alexa Barajas). While Laura died trying to take off in a small prop plane early on and Jackie froze to death during the season 1 finale, fan-favorite Van survived being mauled by a wolf.
Yellowjackets as the adult version of Van, Showtime announced Thursday. The alum will be a series regular, confirming speculation that the character — whose fate was left unclear at the end of the first season — is indeed still alive and kicking. Actress Liv Hewson, who played the teen version of Van, has also been promoted to series regular for season 2.Filming on the new season goes into production in Vancouver later this month.Back in February, ET connected with Hewson and co-star Tawny Cypress, who plays the adult version of Taissa, about their characters' budding romance and the prospects of an adult Van joining the fray.“Taissa’s marriage seems to be in shambles,” Cypress said, referring to Taissa’s estranged wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), in the present day. “It’d be really fun to see an adult Taissa meeting up with an adult Van and where that goes and what that history is all about.” “Poor Simone, oh my god,” Hewson added.

Maybe it’s the pandemic screwing with the perceived passing of time, but it does feel like it was only recently that filmmaker Alex Ross Perry released the musical drama “Her Smell.” But actually, that was nearly four years ago, way back in the pre-COVID era of 2018. Since then, the filmmaker hasn’t released any new films or TV shows (he had a kid, that’ll do it), but he has stayed busy directing music videos, like the newest one for the ’90s indie-rock band Pavement.
