Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson and Sally Hawkins are joining Timothée Chalamet in Warner Bros.’ “Wonka,” it was announced on Wednesday.The musical prequel to the Roald Dahl classic “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be directed by Paul King, who will also co-write with writing partner Simon Farnaby, with David Heyman producing through Heyday Films.

Warner Bros has rolled cameras in the UK on their new Wonka musical movie starring Timothée Chalamet.

Key’s role is being kept secret for now, but it is known that the film will star Chalamet as Dahl’s famous chocolatier Willy Wonka and follow his travels around the world before he built the magical candy factory that poor, humble Charlie Bucket would eventually inherit. The team behind the critically acclaimed “Paddington” films is attached to “Wonka” as Paul King will direct the film and co-write with writing partner Simon Farnaby, with David Heyman producing through Heyday Films.

Rebecca Rubin Film and Media ReporterSony Pictures Classics has landed rights to “The Phantom of the Open,” a heartwarming drama starring Mark Rylance, Sally Hawkins and Rhys Ifans.Craig Roberts, known for his onscreen roles in “Submarine” and “Red Oaks,” directed the film. “Paddington 2” screenwriter Simon Farnaby adapted the screenplay from his book of the same name, which was co-authored by Scott Murray.

Sony Pictures Classics has taken North America, Thailand, France, and China rights to Craig Roberts’ The Phantom of the Open.

Naman Ramachandran “Paddington 3” is among a host of slate titles revealed by Studiocanal at an event in Cannes on Tuesday.Studiocanal CEO Anna Marsh said that principal photography on the keenly anticipated project would commence in the second quarter of 2022. The film reunites Studiocanal with Heyday Films, as previously reported by Variety.

Dune star has been rumoured to take on the iconic role for a few months, with Deadline now confirming that he is on board for Warner Bros’s Wonka.The film will look at the Roald Dahl character’s adventures before he opens his chocolate factory, with song and dance numbers reportedly set to be included as well, meaning that Chalamet will get to showcase his musical skills.Wonka will be directed by Paddington‘s Paul King, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ghosts star Simon Farnaby.
