David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams are teaming up for a limited series adaptation of courtroom thriller Presumed Innocent for Apple.

Shortly after his turn in Roadhouse on Prime Video, Jake Gyllenhaal returns to the small screen in the Apple TV+ series Presumed Innocent, based on the best-selling book by Scott Turow. The lawyer-novelist’s popular legal thriller novel was previously adapted into a 1990 film. The show follows the criminal case against a Chicago prosecutor charged with the murder of a colleague. The investigation also touches on the home life of the family of the accused.

It makes sense that David E. Kelley would find his way back to the work of Scott Turow, one of the most popular authors of his era.

Apple TV+ has moved up the premiere date for Presumed Innocent, its upcoming limited series, starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal. The series, inspired by Scott Turow’s courtroom thriller, from David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. TV, will premiere Wednesday, June 12, , just a few days following its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 9. It originally was scheduled to debut on June 14.
