Jimmy Kimmel Revives Matt Damon Feud at Oscars: He ‘Can’t Read and Smells Like Dog Medicine’

Ethan Shanfeld Hosting the 95th Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel did not miss an opportunity to take a dig at Matt Damon, asking Jessica Chastain in a comedic segment, “Was it difficult filming your movie ‘The Martian’ because your co-star Matt Damon can’t read and smells like dog medicine?” Chastain laughed and responded, “I didn’t really have a lot of scenes with him, so it was fine.” Kimmel and Damon’s infamous (and hilarious) feud dates back to the third season of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in 2005, when Kimmel made an off-hand joke at the end of a show about booting Damon, an A-list guest who would never be cut for time. Soon, “I want to apologize to Matt Damon, we ran out of time” became a recurring bit on “Kimmel.”

Comedian Sarah Silverman said during an interview on CBC Radio One’s “Q with Tom Power” that she cringes at some jokes from her past, but claimed it’s a normal learning process as time goes on.Silverman has made a career out of using shoc value in her comedy, from saying, “I hope the Jews did kill Christ, I’d do it again” in a standup routine, to wearing blackface in a past comedy skit. In a recent interview she noted that many of her past jokes make her uncomfortable, but she thinks that comedians and America in general need to accept societal progress.“Gee, comedy is not evergreen,” she said in the interview.

‘The History of the World, Part 2’ Cast on Working With Mel Brooks: ‘This Is a Man Who Gets Up and He’s Ready to Work’

Scott Huver Yes, it’s good to be the king. But sometimes it’s nearly as good to be part of a legacy project initiated four decades ago by indisputable Hollywood comedy royalty — in this case, legendary writer, director, producer and performer Mel Brooks’ “The History of the World, Part 2.” That was the prevailing spirit among the all-star assembly of contemporary comedy stars who turned out for the premiere of Hulu’s long-awaited follow-up to Brooks’ 1981 comedy classic “The History of the World, Part I,” the bulk of whom appear in the irreverent, sketch-style series and worship at the altar of the signature uproarious style of its creator, who – at age 96 – also serves as executive producer, narrator and overall guiding light.
