EXCLUSIVE: Starz is developing The Comedown, a comedic drama series based on Rafael Frumkin’s book by the same name, sources tell Deadline. The project hails from Regina King’s Royal Ties Productions and Freddie Highmore’s Alfresco Pictures as well as TriStar Television, a division of Sony Pictures TV where The Good Doctor star Highmore has had an overall deal. A rep for Starz declined comment.

EXCLUSIVE: Jeff Wachtel’s Future Shack Entertainment has acquired Kevin Wilson’s short story Grand Stand-In to develop as a limited series, with Gretchen Enders (WandaVision, Queen America) attached to adapt and produce the project.

Based on the novel of the same name by Carola Lovering, the new Hulu drama “Tell Me Lies” follows the toxic relationship between Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten, “Nine Perfect Strangers”) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), over the course of eight years, starting when they first meet during college. Meaghan Oppenheimer (“Queen America”) serves as showrunner for the racy series, with Emma Roberts executive producing with her partner Sarah Preiss under their Belletrist Productions banner.  The show’s star, Grace Van Patten, first got the taste for acting in an episode of “The Sopranos” directed by her father Tim Van Patten.

EXCLUSIVE: Jonathan Levine (Nine Perfect Strangers) has been tapped to direct the pilot and executive produce Hulu limited series Tell Me Lies, based on Carola Lovering’s novel. Additionally, Gabriella Pession (Station 19), Edmund Donovan (Gossip Girl) and Natalee Linez (Power Book III: Raising Kanan) have been cast in recurring roles opposite Grace Van Patten in the series executive produced by Emma Roberts.
