CBS today made its new series pickups, going for one drama,Good Sam, headlined by Sophia Bush, and one comedy, the multi-camera Smallwood starring Pete Holmes.

Elaine Low Senior TV WriterCBS has added one comedy and one drama to its fall TV lineup, with series orders for “Smallwood” and “Good Sam.”“Smallwood,” based on the real-life story of professional bowler Tom Smallwood, stars Pete Holmes, Chi McBride and Katie Lowes. Mark Gross is executive producing and writing, with David Hollander and Brian D’Arcy James also exec producing and Mark Cendrowski directing.

EXCLUSIVE:  Chi McBride has signed with Verve. The accomplished actor, who recently wrapped a seven-season run as Lou Grover on CBS’ Hawaii Five-0, was recently tapped to star opposite Pete Holmes in the as-yet untitled Tom Smallwood comedy pilot, also for CBS.
