Angelique Jackson The four survivors of the latest string of Ghostface killings are set to return for the sixth installment of the “Scream” franchise.Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy), Mason Gooding (Chad) and Jenna Ortega (Tara) will reprise their roles from 2022’s “Scream” for the next movie in the Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures franchise, which follows the quartet as they leave Woodsboro behind and attempt to start a fresh chapter. Principal photography is slated to begin in early summer, with the sixth movie set for theatrical release on March 31, 2023.Ortega and Barrera star in the franchise as sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter, respectively.

Deadline already told you that a Scream sequel is happening with directors Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett) returning and James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay.

Paramount has dated Spyglass Media’s Scream sequel for March 31, 2023 and its untitled Bob Marley movie starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as the reggae legend for Jan. 12, 2024.

A sequel to the latest reboot of “Scream” has officially been greenlit by Paramount and Spyglass. The directors of the fifth “Scream” film, the team Radio Silence, or Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, will be back to direct, as will writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick to write the script. Thus far their film has grossed over $100 million at the box office on a budget of around $20 million.

Following the box-office success of the latest installment, Spyglass Entertainment and Paramount Pictures have given the greenlight to move forward with the next installment of Scream. Returning for the next film are directors Radio Silence with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett at the helm and James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay. Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak are serving as producers. Creator Kevin Williamson and the third member of Radio Silence, Chad Villella, are executive producing alongside Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre.

While the red carpet premiere for the fifth film in the Scream franchise was scheduled to take place next Tuesday, January 11, it has been canceled due to Covid safety concerns, Deadline has confirmed.
