Apple TV+’s Emmy-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” premiering on March 15, Variety spoke with series stars Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed and Toheeb Jimoh. The interviews offered insights about what comes next for the “Ted Lasso” characters, as well as the rationale behind creative decisions made in the writers’ room for Season 3 — including the 12-episode season’s longer episodes. As “Ted Lasso” returns, AFC Richmond is considered the last place underdogs on the Premier League — and the stakes are raised, with former assistant coach Nate Shelley (Mohammed) now at the helm of West Ham United (AFC Richmond’s prestigious competitor).

Rumors abound that the third season of Apple TV+’s massive comedy hit “Ted Lasso” will be the last. Given the show won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series in its first two outings, the creators of this game-changing hit could go a perfect 3-for-3, getting out before the show dips in quality or popularity.

K.J. Yossman “Cunk on Earth” star Diane Morgan and “Intelligence” creator Nick Mohammed have each inked independent deals with BBC Studios. Both comedians, who act and write, have signed deals for development, co-production and distribution of new scripted material, which BBC Studios will rep and distribute internationally. Mohammed is a double Emmy nominee who created and co-starred in “Intelligence” alongside “Friends” star David Schwimmer. He is perhaps best known for his role as Nate in “Ted Lasso” and will be seen in the upcoming feature “Maggie Moore(s)” opposite Jon Hamm and Tina Fey. Mohammed is also an associate of the Inner Magic Circle. Morgan recently had a hit with “Cunk on Earth” in which she starred as professional dim-wit Philomena Cunk. She is also known for comedy show “Mandy,” which she created, wrote and directed, and has starred in shows including “After Life” and “Motherland.”

Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein returned to the Emmy stage yet again this year claiming his second straight best supporting actor Emmy for his performance as Roy Kent. Goldstein also promised that he would try not to swear like the foul mouthed Kent, a promise he just couldn’t keep.

The Lookout Point production, which is written and exec produced by “Gentleman Jack” writer Sally Wainwright, is an upcoming eight-part adventure and fantasy series about an 18th century young woman who finds herself unwittingly becoming the most famous highwaywoman in the country. “Derry Girls” star Harland will play the quick-witted and courageous Nell, who ends up on an extraordinary adventure after she is framed for murder – a twist of fate that has far bigger consequences than Nell could ever dream of. Mohammed (“Ted Lasso”) joins as Billy Bling, a “plucky but prickly” spirit while Richardson (“Nip/Tuck”) is eccentric newspaper magnate Lady Eularia Moggerhanger.
