Eagle-eyed Casualty viewers had a moment of realisation after spotting an ex-EastEnders favourite starring in the most recent episode. After the latest instalment of the medical drama aired on BBC One, soap fans flooded X (formerly known as Twitter) to point out the arrival of a well-known Walford name.

EastEnders actor John Altman looked very different from his iconic Nasty Nick days as he stepped out for the Henley Royal Regatta. The 71 year old, who played the villainous son of Dot Cotton on the BBC One soap from 1985 to 2015, showed off a long, gelled-back hairstyle at the famous rowing event - which is being staged in the town of Henley-on-Thames all this week. And John looked worlds away from Walford as he sported a baby blue suit with a white and blue floral shirt and brown shoes.

EastEnders bosses shelved their plans for their controversial storyline that would have seen Dot Cotton's association with Walford come to an end. June Brown, who played Dot for more than 30 years, died at the age of 95 back in April.The actress played Dot from 1985 - the year the soap started - all the way to 2020, but now her on-screen granddaughter Dotty is the only person left from her family tree remaining on Albert Square.
