Rebecca Rubin Film and Media Reporter Catherine O’Hara, Jay Duplass and Andy Garcia will join the cast of “The Pain Hustlers,” teaming up with Emily Blunt and Chris Evans in the Netflix movie. Brian d’Arcy James (“Spotlight,” “West Side Story”) and Chloe Coleman (“My Spy,” “Marry Me”) are rounding out the ensemble. David Yates, best known for directing several “Harry Potter” movies, is helming “The Pain Hustlers,” which is said to be tonally similar to American Dream-esque crime dramas like “The Big Short,” “American Hustle” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” According to the official logline, the film follows an unemployed “blue-collar woman struggling to raise her daughter [who] takes a job at a failing pharmaceutical start-up, only to get involved in a dangerous racketeering scheme.”

Dave Bautista action pic Trap House has added Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Sophia Lillis (It, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), Kate del Castillo (La Reina del Sur), Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul), Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl) and Bobby Cannavale (The Irishman, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) to it’s cast.

Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg are joining the “My Spy” franchise, with all three comedy vets signing up for “My Spy: The Eternal City” at Amazon Studios. Director Pete Segal (“Get Smart,” “Anger Management”) is returning to helm the sequel, which reunites franchise stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman alongside scene-stealers Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong.

Peacock has handed a straight-to-series order to Hysteria!, a coming-of-age satanic panic drama thriller from writer Matthew Scott Kane (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Dungeons & Dragons filmmakers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner’s Good Fear (My Spy, Mulan) and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Brent Lang Executive Editor of Film and MediaA consortium of investors led by Najafi Companies has closed its deal to purchase STX Entertainment, the beleaguered film and television company behind “Bad Moms” and “My Spy.” The sale ends STX’s unhappy union with Eros, the Indian media company that it merged with in 2020. The goal was to go public, which STXEros did, but to little investor fanfare. STX had previously tried and abandoned an effort to go public on the Hong Kong stock exchange in 2018, citing unfavorable market conditions.

Dave Bautista has had an interesting career to date. He started as a professional wrestler, as have several other action film stars, before really breaking out as one of the leads in Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy” (which led to multiple MCU appearances).

Readers too young to remember Arnold Schwarzenegger's kid-centric Cop can substitute The Rock in Tooth Fairy or John Cena in Playing With Fire —that is, if they remember them, because family movies pairing Hollywood hulks with clever kids are rarely very memorable.

Amazon Studios has picked up STX's once theater-bound action comedy My Spy, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The movie, which was set to hit theaters in U.S.
