Black midi cover Taylor Swift, King Crimson on new EP

black midi, the spiky and uncompromising British post-punk band, kick off their North American tour tonight (March 22) and have dropped a new covers EP to celebrate. Cavalcovers includes the group's take on "Love Story" by Taylor Swift plus “Moonlight On Vermont” by Captain Beefheart and King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man." The latter features all three members of the band, bassist Cameron Picton, guitarist Geordie Greep, and drummer Morgan Simpson, on vocals for the first time. Check out the EP below.

However, rather than their own songs, they will be playing nothing but the hits of The Beatles.The one-off performance is part of a strand of the festival curated by Slauson Malone 1 – aka multidisciplinary artist Jasper Marsalis – and is intended to explore the unlikely intersection between the two bands.“When listening to Britain’s cacophonous Black Midi, not many would be reminded of the world’s most agreeable band of all time”, says the blurb for the show.

Black Midi have announced a special festival appearance where they’ll cover a range of tracks by The Beatles.The London trio are due to perform the special “one-off” gig at the festival Le Guess Who?, which takes place in Utrecht in the Netherlands this November.Writing on social media, Black Midi explained that former Standing On The Corner member Slauson Malone 1 – who has curated his own programme – had asked “to play a set of Beatles tunes” at the event.The band will play the Fab Four-themed show on Friday, November 10 – you can find ticket information here.A listing on the official Le Guess Who? website reads: “When listening to Britain’s cacophonous Black Midi, not many would be reminded of the world’s most agreeable band of all time. Black midi return with new single “John L”

Following their thunderous 2019 debut Schlagenheim, black midi are back for round two: their sophomore album, Cavalcade is due out May 28th via Rough Trade. The London band — comprised of Geordie Greep, Cameron Picton, and Morgan Simpson — wrote most of the album individually while at home in early 2020 and brought the pieces together at a studio in the Dublin mountains.

End Of The Road festival announces online edition with Squid and more

cancelled back in May due to the coronavirus outbreak.Now, the festival have shared details of a new online event set for Saturday September 6, in which a number of artists will play live from the festival’s home of the Larmer Tree Gardens.Squid, Katy J Pearson, Billy Nomates and more will all perform as part of the event, dubbed In The Garden Of Streaming, which will also feature a collaborative improvisation between Black Midi drummer Morgan Simpson and Kwake Bass.
