Kimee Balmilero, Tess Paras and Jason Rogel are the latest additions to ABC’s Filipino American pilot Josep, starring Jo Koy. They join the pilot as series regulars and will appear opposite previously announced cast members Mia Katigbak, Rory O’Malley and Kaden Alejandro.

The Producers Guild of America hosted its annual East Coast Celebration of the 2022 Producers Guild Awards nominees last night and announced the winners in four categories. They are as follows:

The show follows a recently divorced Filipino American nurse (Koy) attempting to navigate dating, fatherhood and a very Filipino mother who loves to “help.”Katigbak will star as Lorna, Jo’s mom. She is described as a little Filipino force of nature.

Mia Katigbak (How To Get Away With Murder) has joined the cast of Josep, ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot with Jo Koy, who stars and executive produces. She also joins previously announced lead Rory O’Malley.

When Jin meets a new foreign exchange student (Jim Liu) on the first day of school, their worlds collide as Jin becomes entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

EXCLUSIVE: After teaming in the Disney/Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Michelle Yeoh is set to top an international cast for the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed Disney+ fantastical series American Born Chinese. She will star alongside Ben Wang (MacGyver), Yeo Yann Yann (Wet Season), Chin Han (Mortal Kombat), Daniel Wu (Reminiscence), Ke Huy Quan (Finding Ohana), former Taekwondo champion Jim Liu and Sydney Taylor (Just Add Magic).

Prom Pact, which I hear is among several original movies DBT will be announcing during their TCA session tomorrow, is toplined by Disney Channel favorites, former Andi Mack star Peyton Elizabeth Lee, who is now the lead of Disney+’s Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., and Zombies‘ Milo Manheim, who also was a runner-up on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. The film comes from Julie Bowen, star of ABC’s signature comedy Modern Family, and Melvin Mar, producer behind such Disney series as ABC’s Fresh off the Boat and Disney+’s Doogie Kamealoha, M.D., headlined by Lee.

Mónica Marie Zorrilla “Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.,” Disney Plus’ “Doogie Howser” reboot about the adventures of a 16-year-old girl juggling adolescence and a prodigious medical career in Hawai’i, will return to Disney Plus for a second season. The half-hour, family-friendly medical dramedy starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee in the titular role of Lahela “Doogie” Kameāloha, was originally released on the streamer on Nov.

Disney+ has picked up a second season of Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee as the titular prodigy. The renewal comes almost three months after the Season 1 finale of the coming-of-age medical half-hour dramedy was released Nov. 10.

ABC is developing a youth-skewing workplace comedy from Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. duo Alison Bennett and Melvin Mar.

The upcoming Dwayne Johnson holiday film from Amazon Studios has tapped Jake Kasdan to direct, according to an individual with knowledge of the project. The film is set to begin production in 2022 with a 2023 holiday release.Kasdan will also produce the film on behalf of his production company, The Detective Agency, alongside Melvin Mar and co-producer Sky Salem Robinson.

ABC has given a pilot order to The Son In Law, a single-camera comedy written and executive produced by Ajay Sahgal (The Carmichael Show) and executive produced by Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar, the duo behind such series as ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat and Disney+’s Doogie Kealoha, M.D. 20th Television, where Kasdan and Mar are based, is the studio, with Kasdan’s The Detective Agency producing.

Randall Park wasn't necessarily looking for a project like Disney+'s reimagining, But it was his friendships with executive producers Kourtney Kang and Melvin Mar -- both of whom worked on the ABC family sitcom Park starred in for six seasons, -- that led him to the charming Hawaiian world.

Disney+ has given a straight-to-series order for “American Born Chinese,” with “Shang-Chi” director Destin Daniel Cretton attached.Cretton will direct the series and will executive produce alongside Kelvin Yu, Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan. Yu will write and serve as showrunner.

Doogie Howser creator Steven Bochco may not be around to see his story of a medical prodigy find new life with Disney+’s Doogie Kamealoha M.D., but the creative team continues to sing his praises.

Shortly before the 2015 series premiere of ABC’s Fresh Off the Boat, the network sitcom loosely based on Eddie Huang’s memoir, the lawyer-turned-chef-turned-author unleashed a take-no-prisoners denouncement of the the first Asian-American family comedy on broadcast TV in more than 20 years. “That show is a lie,” Huang recalls telling its executive producer Melvin Mar, whom he calls an “Uncle Chan” in the piece.

Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar will also executive produce along with Dayna and Jesse Bochco.

Disney+ is bringing Doogie Howser, M.D.to a new generation with a reboot of the classic Neil Patrick Harris-starring comedy, set to focus on a half-Asian, half-white 16-year-old girl who works as a doctor in Hawaii, Variety originally reported.
