The independent banner released the first trailer for the R-rated comedy on Thursday morning, shortly following the announcement by the Toronto International Film Festival that the film will play in the event’s Midnight Madness section.

“All I wanna do is cut hair, and they keep dropping.” A24 has a knack for finding a lot of strange and weird films, and the new film, “Medusa Deluxe,” definitely fits that bill. A British murder mystery set in a competitive hairdressing contest, the film is the feature-length directorial debut of Thomas Hardiman, known for shorts like “Pitch Black Panacea” (2020) and “Time on My Hands” (2012).

Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells’s debut feature Aftersun has bagged three awards in the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) craft categories, the year’s most wins.

“The Menu.”The film festival, held at the Alamo Drafthouse on South Lamar in Austin, Texas, is one of the premiere genre film festivals in the country and has led to more acquisitions than South by Southwest, which takes place in Austin every spring. A joyful celebration of all things genre, this year was no different – with buzzy titles like Searchlight’s “The Menu” and MGM’s “Bones and All” playing alongside more esoteric fare like “Shin Ultraman.” There was even a high profile Marvel Studios premiere in their upcoming black-and-white Halloween special, “Werewolf by Night” (which really brought the house down).“We really gave our jury members a tough job this year.
