EXCLUSIVE: Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale), Froy Gutierrez (Cruel Summer) and Gabriel Basso (Hillbilly Elegy) have been tapped to star in a Lionsgate remake of the 2008 horror pic The Strangers, which has entered production in Slovakia. Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger) is directing the film, which will be the first in a trilogy, having locked in a deal to helm the subsequent pair.

Riverdale star Madelaine Petsch just dropped a teaser and revealed the date to Renny Harlin’s remake of the 2008 movie, The Strangers, which will haunt theaters on May 17, 2024. More movies, exhibitors, filling vacancies on next year’s theatrical schedule.

EXCLUSIVE: Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Christian Gudegast’s action thriller sequel, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera which stars Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. reprising their respective roles of “Big Nick” and “Donnie”. A wide theatrical release is planned for Q4 of 2024.

Tubi has given the green light to a second season of its animated series, “The Freak Brothers” — its first-ever renewal of a show.Featuring the voices of Woody Harrelson, John Goodman, Pete Davidson, Tiffany Haddish, Adam Devine, Blake Anderson, Andrea Savage, La La Anthony and Rapper ScHoolboy Q, the series — Tubi’s first animated original — is based on the comics from Gilbert Shelton.“We’re thrilled to embark on another even more freaky trip with Adam Lewinson, Rachel Koehler and the fantastic teams at Tubi, Fox and Lionsgate. Carson Burton Tubi has announced that its original animated series “The Freak Brothers” will return for a second season in December 2022. The series renewal is the first ever for the streamer.“The Freak Brothers,” which is based on Gilbert Shelton’s cult classic comic series “The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers,” follows a trio of stoner characters and their cat as they adjust to life in present-day San Francisco after smoking a magical strain of weed in 1969 forces them into a 50-year nap.

Grammy-nominated artist Jeremih (Jeremy P. Felton) is set for a recurring role opposite Joseph Sikora in Power Book IV: Force, the third installment in the Power universe, from Courtney Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Lionsgate Television.

EXCLUSIVE: Daniel Sunjata is set as a new series regular opposite Mary J. Blige and Michael Rainey Jr. in Season 2 of Starz’s Power Book II: Ghost, the first spinoff series in the expanded Power Universe franchise. Courtney A. Kemp and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson executive produce alongside Mark Canton. Kemp also serves as series creator and showrunner. Season 2 began filming this month in New York. Lionsgate TV is the studio.
