When Bassam Tariq departed the Marvel Studios’ production of “Blade” just weeks before the film was expected to begin production, many assumed this would lead to a possible delay. Well, everyone was right.

Marvel Studios has temporarily shut down production-related activities in Atlanta on its new Blade film, as the studio continues development on the project, amid an expanding search for a new director, Deadline can confirm.

The new “Blade” movie was all set to start shooting in two months, but that may now be up in the air.

In a stunning turn of events, Bassam Tarqiq has parted ways with Marvel Studios Blade pic sources confirmed to Deadline. The film stars Mahershala Ali and was set to start production in November but sources now say the start date is to be determined. The pic was also set to star Aaron Pierre and Delroy Lindo.

Since the 2009 release of “Coraline,” Laika has made a name for itself as a legitimate alternative to Pixar for animated feature films. All of their titles, including “ParaNorman,” “The Boxtrolls,” and “Kubu And The Two Strings” are critical darlings.
