After two decades of American occupation, the nation fell once again to the insurgent group, which moved quickly to strip women of basic rights — simple freedoms like the ability to work, appear in public without a male chaperone and receive an education. “It all just collapsed and a matter of days,” Lawrence recalled to Variety. “I was watching this from America, where Roe v. Wade was about to be overturned. We felt helpless and frustrated with how to get these stories off of the news cycle and into people’s psyches. To help people be galvanized and care about the plight of these women.”

The very R-rated trailer opens with Lawrence’s character Maddie approaching the awkward Percy at a dog adoption center, asking “Mind if I touch your wiener?” before revealing he’s holding a Dachshund wiener dog. On the brink of losing her childhood home, Maddie resorts to every last-ditch effort to fulfill the parents’ questionable request and sleep with Percy. She skinny dips, plies him with Long Island ice tea and, in one hilarious scene, kidnaps him in a van before getting pepper sprayed in the face.

In the wake of Warner Bros/DC’s The Flash going week earlier on June 16 and landing on the date of Jennifer Lawrence’s R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings, that movie has now moved a week later to June 23, which is Flash‘s old date.

Clayton Davis A24 and Apple Original Films have released the first trailer for “Causeway,” their new drama starring Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence.  Lawrence stars as Lynsey, a military engineer who returns to the United States from Afghanistan after suffering a debilitating brain injury after an IED explosion.   After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, Lawrence, who also serves as one of the film’s producers, garnered rave reviews for her performance. The film hopes to find a pathway into a crowded lead actress field.

On Saturday, ET caught up with the actress during the premiere of her upcoming film, where she dished about motherhood. “Wonderful, thank you,” she told ET’s Rachel Smith about her motherhood journey.  Although she walked the carpet sans Maroney, he was still there to support her for her first film since welcoming their son. When asked if the outing counted for date night, the 32-year-old quipped, «In the sense that we’ll both be in bed by nine.” The actress instead walked the carpet with her co-stars, Linda Emond, Brian Tyree Henry, Lila Neugebauer and Justine Ciarrocchi.Lawrence and Maroney, 38, tied the knot during a star-studded ceremony in 2019.

Lawrence stars in and produces the film, in which she plays a soldier returning to civilian life in New Orleans. The film also stars Brian Tyree Henry, Linda Emond, Stephen McKinley Henderson and Russell Harvard. “Causeway” is the feature directorial debut of theater veteran Lila Neugebauer, with a script written by Elizabeth Sanders, Luke Goebel and Ottessa Moshfegh.

An exact release date has not been set.Lila Neugebauer, who recently directed Broadway’s revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s play “The Waverly Gallery” to great acclaim, is directing “Causeway” in her feature film debut.

Apple Original Films continues to expand on its diverse film slate as it has landed the rights to Causeway, a new film starring and produced by Academy Award-winner Jennifer Lawrence, and directed by Lila Neugebauer. A24 produced and developed the project. The film will make its global debut in-theaters and on Apple TV+ later this year.
