Fury of the Gods” opened in theaters and bombed at the box office, Zachary Levi took to Instagram to weigh in on a whole lot of drama surrounding the DC comic book tentpole. In a video, the actor confirmed that plans for the “Fury of the Gods” post-credits scene — in which Shazam is recruited to join the Justice Society — were “thwarted,” although he did not say by who. A report from The Wrap published after “Fury of the God’s” opening weekend claimed that Dwayne Johnson sabotaged the “Shazam” post-credits scene by blocking “Black Adam” characters Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) and Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) from appearing in it. Johnson headlined “Black Adam” and aimed to start a new thread of the DC Universe built around his character facing off against Henry Cavill’s Superman. “Black Adam” also underperformed at the box office, and both Johnson and Cavill are not included in the new DC Universe being spearheaded by DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.

The long-awaited DC Universe “Black Adam” superhero film premiered recently in New York, the embargo has been lifted, and everyone is free, per Warner Bros., to discuss the film in whatever terms they like. In his review of the film, TheWrap’s Alonso Duralde wrote, “That task is the capture of an exceedingly powerful ancient metahuman known as Teth Adam (Dwayne Johnson), and despite the movie’s best efforts to jazz up the increasingly predictable superhero genre — this one doesn’t care if he kills people — “Black Adam” feels like both too much and not enough, and none of its narrative gambits are helped by a sludgy visual style that’s either distractingly artificial or dispiritingly gloomy, except when it manages to be both.”Johnson produces and stars in “Black Adam,” which is his live-action entry into the DC universe and reunites him with “Jungle Cruise” director Jaume Collet-Serra. The film also stars Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Shahi, Noah Centineo and Aldis Hodge as members of the Justice Society.Eric Eisenberg from Cinemablend wrote in his review, “Black Adam is more mediocre than bad, but that’s perhaps worse in a pop culture landscape that will be quick to forget about it as audiences’ attentions drift to the next superhero blockbuster.

Quintessa Swindell has joined the cast of New Line/DC’s Black Adam which is set to go into production in Georgia early next year. She’ll play Cyclone aka Maxine Hunkel in the Dwayne Johnson movie. Cycline is a junior member of the Justice Society with the power to manipulate wind and sound. She joins previously announced that Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher who are also members of DC’s Justice Society. Sarah Shahi has also been cast.
