"Yellowstone" star Wes Bentley admitted he's thought about the fate of Kevin Costner's character John Dutton amid reports Costner might not return for season six. Bentley, who stars as John's adopted son Jamie Dutton, opened up about how the patriarch's death could affect his character, in a new interview with TV Line. "I thought about this in season one," the actor said while attending SCAD TVFest.

Well, Paramount+ did tease splitting “Yellowstone” season five into two parts earlier this year. While they remained relatively quiet about it after that, true to their world, during this Sunday’s episode—which turned out to be the mid-season finale— Paramount Network revealed a teaser announcing the much-anticipated return of “Yellowstone” is slated for Summer 2023.

Paramount delivered some bittersweet news Sunday about the return of Yellowstone. Now that Jamie (Wes Bentley) has declared war on his governor-dad John Dutton, we’re not going to see how that plays out until this summer.

The only Yellowstone character who managed to survive John Dutton’s decision to clean house in the governor’s office was Clara Brewer (Lilli Kay), a green behind the ears assistant who becomes an important ally to the family. It’s a dream role for Kay, whose dad Stephen Kay is a director/EP on the drama while her stepmom Piper Perabo plays Summer, Dutton’s current lover.

Josh Lucas was cast as a young John Dutton before Yellowstone even premiered on Paramount, but it would take five seasons before the character’s backstory would actually start to unspool.
