As Nickelodeon CEO Brian Bobbins prepares to take over Paramount Pictures from Jim Gianopulos, the film studio’s television division Paramount TV Studios will move under the purview of Showtime CEO David Nevins, Deadline has confirmed.

Wall Street Journal reported. The move is expected to be formalized on Monday with Robbins taking over for Jim Gianopulos as CEO of Paramount Pictures.

David Nevins, longtime Showtime chief, is poised to take on oversight of Paramount Television as the studio undergoes a restructuring and leadership change as Brian Robbins takes the reins as studio chief.The shakeup means that Robbins will not oversee TV production for the studio as did his predecessor Jim Gianopulos, sources close the situation said. Reps for ViacomCBS did not immediately return calls for comment.

While most personnel decisions never rise above the industry trades, the recent news that Paramount was moving on from CEO Jim Gianopulos and replacing him with Nickelodeon executive Brian Robbins sent minor shockwaves through the industry for what it means in the ongoing streaming-versus-theatrical debate.

In November 2018, Paramount Pictures boss Jim Gianopulos revealed a major new initiative for then-parent Viacom: a multi-picture deal with Netflix. “Our priority is to expand our role as a major global content supplier,” Gianopulos said.
