Janelle Monáe has been set to receive the Critics Choice Association’s SeeHer Award, an honor that will be bestowed next month during the 28th annual Critics Choice Awards. She joins Jeff Bridges, who earlier this month was tapped to receive the group’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15 is coming to MTV and the network has revealed who will join the judging panel throughout the season to find “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”

If you’ve seen “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” you know, like its predecessor, “Knives Out,” it’s a delicate, intricate web of intrigue with lots of characters and several mystery strings that can be pulled on. Cleverly written and directed by Rian Johnson (“Knives Out,” “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”), “Glass Onion” spins a lot of plates, including a dense murder mystery and an all-star cast that includes Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista.

Tonight’s MPTF’s telethon on KTLA raised $858,493 for Hollywood’s 101-year-old charitable organization – exceeding the $750,000 that it had targeted. Jeff Bridges, who was one of the many stars who appeared on the show, noted that the MPTF is in “dire straits” due to the extraordinary Covid-19 expenses it’s racked up over the last three years.

The Motion Picture & Television Fund’s star-packed telethon Lights, Camera, Take Action! airs live Saturday on KTLA beginning at 7 p.m. It hopes to raise at least $300,000 to defray some of the $9 million in direct Covid expenses it’s racked up over the past three years – and to help keep more than 250 residents of the retirement village from having to move out.

Over the 5-day Thanksgiving stretch, Netflix’s one week sneak preview of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery buried all new and old major studio adult counterprogramming with an estimated $13.3M over 5-days for what is projected to be a $15M first week by Tuesday.

Let’s start with The Beatles. At the end of 1968 the Fab Four released The White Album, which would become tabloid-notorious within a year because some hippie cult leader named Charles Manson sent his followers on a killing spree under the guise of the hidden meanings he’d uncovered in their songs. What no one really remembers nowadays, though, is that there was already a track on that album aimed squarely at the kind of weirdos who looked for hidden meanings in Beatles songs.

Rian Johnson’s latest comedic puzzle, “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” is now in theaters (if only for a week, maybe) and has earned a ton of critical acclaim. So much so that it may snag the Best Picture nomination the first installment just missed.

Knives Out franchise, has confirmed that lead character detective Benoit Blanc – played by Daniel Craig – is gay.Per Insider, Johnson confirmed the news during a recent press conference at London Film Festival, where he appeared to promote the impending Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion. Insider asked Johnson about Blanc’s sexuality, referencing a particular scene that indicates the character lives with a man.Responding to whether that means he’s queer, Johnson replied: “Yes, he obviously is.” Referring to the as-yet-unknown actor who plays Blanc’s lover, the director added that “there’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with”.Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery – the second film in the Knives Out franchise, following the 2019 original – sees Craig reprise his role as Blanc, with the detective travelling to Greece to solve his latest case.

Janelle Monae is opening up about her acting career and why she wants to emulate Johnny Depp‘s career.

The conversation, which took place ahead of the European premiere of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” included the musician-actor citing Johnny Depp’s career as one she’d like to emulate given the “transformative” characters he has played. Monáe stressed that it was only Depp’s acting career that she admired, and not Depp as a person. “When I think about careers, this person’s life as an actor, only… Johnny Depp has a very badass career,” Monae said, citing Willy Wonka and Sweeney Todd as “dramatic roles” she aspires to play in her own work. “Whatever the Janelle Monáe version of them is, maybe it’s something even better, I want to be able to do those transformative characters that people are dressing up as for Halloween.”

Rian Johnson’s murder-mystery sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will receive a theatrical UK release after Netflix struck deals with Vue International and Cineworld.

Angelique Jackson Rian Johnson’s highly-anticipated “Knives Out” sequel will first debut in theaters after all. While Netflix previously teased that “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” would play “in select theaters on a to-be-announced date,” the streamer has announced that the movie will hit theaters for a “special sneak peek preview” a full month before it launches on the platform. Following the highly-anticipated film’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it launched to rave reviews, Netflix has announced that “Glass Onion” will get a one-week only theatrical release over Thanksgiving with the film playing exclusively in theaters from Nov. 23-29.

Michaela Zee editor Miami Dade College’s Miami Film Festival GEMS has announced its line-up for its ninth annual event, with “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” set to open the festival on Nov. 3. The “Knives Out” sequel follows Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) as he travels to Greece to solve another murder mystery. Along with Craig, the cast includes Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Baustista. Miami Film Festival will honor the ensemble cast of “Glass Onion” with the inaugural Ensemble Award. Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans” will close out the festival on Nov. 10, with star Paul Dano virtually receiving the Precious Gem Award.

Redmayne will receive the Virtuoso Award for “The Good Nurse,” Monáe will be presented with the Spotlight Award for “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” Jonathan Majors with the Spotlight Award for “Devotion” and Sadie Sink with the Rising Star Award for “The Whale.” Among the other honorees, Kerry Condon is set to receive the Distinguished Performance Award for “The Banshees of Inisherin,” JD Dillard with the Rising Star Director Award for “Devotion,” Nicholas Hoult with the Vanguard Award for “The Menu,” Jeremy Pope with the Distinguished Performance Award for “The Inspection.” Henry Selick is being honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Animation Award for “Wendell and Wild.” Previously announced honorees include Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly) who will receive the Discovery Award for “Taurus” and Ron Howard who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award in Directing for “Thirteen Lives.”
