House Party,” a raunchy, genre-bending comedy adventure co-produced by basketball legend LeBron James. Starring actors Jacob Latimore and Tosin Cole, the trailer gives glimpses at some of the hilarity and mayhem to come in the upcoming release, including a scene where the duo find themselves in James’ house, talking to a hologram the athlete created to shower him in words of affirmation. “He got a hologram of himself, just to give him compliments?” Latimore quips in the trailer. The feature is a remake of a 1990 comedy by the same title, though the plot has been adapted for a new, modern audience. As opposed to the two leads being high-schoolers in search of a fun night, Latimore and Cole play two aspiring club promoters who decide to host a massive party to distract from their financial troubles after being fired from their day-jobs as house cleaners.

LeBron James certainly has a sense of humor. The first trailer for his remake of the 1990 comedy “House Party” takes us inside his massive crib and even into his closet, where LeBron has a life-size hologram designed to butter him up each morning. “You are one handsome motherf—er,” the James hologram says to the film’s two protagonists in its first trailer.

New Line’s reboot of House Party, which was originally suppose to go to HBO Max, but was given a theatrical release, will now open on Jan. 13, 2023 rather than Dec. 9, 2022.

This weekend’s scheduled episodes of two Showtime dramas have been jacked. The premium cabler said today that it will air the Paramount Pictures theatrical sequel Jackass Forever in the Sunday 8-10 p.m. slots usually occupied by The Chi and City on a Hill.

Yossman Comedian and social media star Tamera “Tee” Kissen has been cast opposite Jack Harlow in the remake of 1992 Wesley Snipes/Woody Harrelson comedy “White Men Can’t Jump,” Variety can exclusively reveal.The remake has been in the works since 2017 when it first emerged “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris and Doug Hall were working on a script rebooting the film.Earlier this year it was revealed Jack Harlow had been cast, marking the rapper’s feature film debut, playing the role Harrelson originated.

Showtime’s The Chi will be one cast member short when it returns in June. On Thursday, Jasmine Davis who appears as Imani revealed that she will not be in the series’ upcoming fifth season.

Showtime is heading back to the South Side this summer. The premium cabler said today that Season 5 of its Lena Waithe-created drama The Chi will premiere at 9 p.m. Friday, June 24.

Latimore replaces Jorge Lendeborg Jr., who sources say recently left the project to focus on his mental well-being; insiders say the exit was supported by the studio and filmmakers. Latimore will now co-star opposite Tosin Cole, with award-winning music video director Calmatic helming in his feature debut.

At the beginning of the new trailer for the upcoming drama, “Gully,” the film presents itself as a fairly typical coming-of-age story about three friends growing up in Los Angeles. However, that idea gets thrown out of the window pretty quickly when you see what the film really has up its sleeve, as it evolves into a thriller with obvious video game imagery and violence, as the life of the three leads gets thrown into chaos.
