Henry Rollins is unlikely to go back to music anytime soon, claiming that he “wouldn’t go back on stage with a band for anything”.The artist was answering questions submitted by fans via The Guardian, one of whom asked why he had stepped back from making music in recent years.“I stopped processing ideas in terms of lyrics. One day, I woke up and thought: ‘I’m done’.  My manager flipped out, but I’ve never looked back,” he said. “I didn’t want to become a human jukebox playing old songs, so I filled the space the band took with films and TV and now my shows, my radio show and writing.

Henry Rollins has spoken out about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, reflecting on the upheaval in the lives of Ukrainians as a result of the war.Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the country’s military to launch a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24. The UN reported that 549 civilians had died as of March 10 – although they believe the total could be much higher – while the US military estimates that between 2,000 and 4,000 Ukrainian armed forces, national guard and volunteer forces have also been killed.In an interview on New York’s 102.3 WBAB radio station, Rollins spoke about the conflict and shared his experiences of visiting Ukraine. “The thing is still, in a way, breaking news,” he said, per Blabbermouth.

Suicide to release career-spanning collection, share unreleased track

Suicide have announced the release of their first ever career-spanning collection.Called ‘Surrender’, the collection will be released on Mute/BMG on March 25.The 16-track collection, also contains previously unheard material from the duo, made up of Martin Rev and the late Alan Vega.Two new, unreleased tracks also feature on the collection: ‘Girl (Unreleased Version)’ and ‘Frankie Teardrop (First Version)’. You can listen to the latter below, which contains alternative lyrics and is accompanied by a short film directed by Douglas Hart.Listen to it here:Speaking about the new collection, which is intended to serve as an introduction to their 50-year-long career, long-term fan and friend of the band Henry Rollins said: “This gathering of songs is not a ‘best of’ nor is it a ‘definitive’ all-you-need-to-know compilation.”Rollins, who has also written the sleeve-notes for the collection, added: “It is an introduction that will hopefully compel you to explore the albums.”Suicide’s Alan Vega passed away in 2016. The singer of the New York protopunk band passed away in his sleep, aged 78.He was mourned widely on social media.
