Several cast and production members at Chicago P.D. are stepping in to help the 13 set and office PAs on the popular NBCseries, pitching in to give each of them $1,500. The money was distributed a week and a half ago, with a second payment on the way.

Jesse Lee Soffer has been unemployed for 12 hours. Which is a big deal, considering he started acting when he was 6 and hasn’t stopped since. Before he turned 30, Soffer had more than 500 episodes of “As the World Turns” and three Emmy nominations under his belt — not to mention his memorable role as Bobby Brady in the “Brady Bunch” movies. Then, in 2013, Soffer began his relationship with Dick Wolf. Soffer’s character, Jay Halstead, was introduced on Wolf’s “Chicago Fire” (the first “Law & Order: SVU” spinoff that would go on to launch the franchise) and then became one of the leads on “Chicago P.D.” when it debuted the following year. Soffer appeared on 189 episodes — every hour of Seasons 1 through 9 and the first three of 10. (The show’s 200th episode airs on Feb. 22.)

Emily Longeretta Maggie is back! Missy Peregrym, who left CBS’ “FBI” in April for maternity leave, has returned to set and is filming again, showrunner Rick Eid tells Variety. When viewers last saw her in Season 4, Maggie was hospitalized after breathing in sarin gas on a case. While OA (Zeeko Zaki) was able to rescue her in time and save her life, the episode ended with him at her bedside, letting her know that he has no interest in doing the job without her. Now, as Maggie and OA are reunited, he’s more protective than ever. “The first two episodes explore that dynamic. We explore OA’s attempt to be overly protective and Maggie trying to stake out her own lane in this new chapter of their partnership. Perhaps OA is blaming himself for certain things he shouldn’t be blaming himself for, so we definitely explore their partnership,” says Eid. “It’s not always easy to come back after eight or nine months after something like this happens. It’s not just on the person who actually suffered the injury. It’s also complicated for the person who didn’t suffer the injury but maybe blames himself for the other person suffering the injury. We dig a little bit into that kind of psychology.”

While viewers are disappointed about the actor, who has portrayed Jay Halstead since the series’ debut, leaving the show, showrunner Gwen Sigan is focused on writing the big shift. “We’re all very sad about it. Jesse’s meant so much to this show, and you couldn’t ask for more professional and kind person to work with. So we’re all going to be so devastated,” she told Variety ahead of Wednesday’s premiere. “I think it just what he brings to the show just as a person and then his character on top of it — you’re looking at a character that has meant a lot to Voight and is married to Hailey. There’s so many things that, story wise, are going to be very interesting to write into. So it’s been emotional for sure.”
