The city of Los Angeles is keeping  Kobe  and  Gianna Bryant ’s legacy alive during some of the most trying times.  Vanessa Bryant  took to her Instagram stories to share a host of photos of murals of her late husband and daughter that were spared during citywide protests. The 38-year-old wife of the Lakers legend shared a video of a local news clip where the reporter explained how supporters kept a mural of Kobe and Gianna from catching fire.

The city of Los Angeles now has several murals of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna Bryant, following their deaths in a helicopter crash in January. These murals have managed to escape damage amidst the protests for George Floyd that have been going on in the city for the last several days. Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, took to Instagram on June 1 to share her appreciation for the fact that the murals have gone ‘untouched.’

While the protests in Los Angeles escalated to violence and vandalism over the weekend, murals honoring Kobe Bryant and his late daughter, Gianna, have largely remained untouched. Gianna Bryant was going to be 14 years old on May 1. Gigi, as she was familiarly called, would have been about to finish the eighth grade at Harbor Day School, after which she'd spend the summer shooting hoops and gossiping with her girlfriends as they got ready for their first year of high school—where she would have crushed it playing for her school team, while still being coached by her legendary athlete of a dad, Kobe Bryant, at his Mamba Sports Academy.

Today, May 1, marks the day Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant would have turned 14 years old. The teenager would have been celebrating with her loving parents, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant, and doted on by her sisters — Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and baby Capri, 10 months.

She was destined not only to follow her father's legacy, but make her own. Today, Gianna "Gigi" Bryant should be turning 14 years old and be celebrating by training with her dad, Kobe Bryant.

Just like Vanessa Bryant, the families of four of the victims, who perished in the tragic helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of Kobe and Gianna Bryant in Calabasas on January 26, believe it was completely avoidable.
