Francis Lawrence is giving an update on the development of Constantine 2 with Keanu Reeves and things are seemingly moving along.

Zack Sharf Digital News Director Variety reported last fall that Keanu Reeves was in talks to return for a sequel to “Constantine,” the 2005 superhero horror movie based on the graphic novels from DC Comics and Vertigo Comics. Now comes a small but noteworthy update from Francis Lawrence, the 2005 film’s director who is set to return alongside Reeves for the sequel. It turns out a script for “Constantine 2” still does not exist (it got held up by the WGA strike, which is now over), but the two men and original producer Akiva Goldsman are hashing out the story.

Francis Lawrences directed every “Hunger Games” sequel and is back for the Lionsgate prequel, which features “West Side Story” breakout Rachel Zegler in the lead role of Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from District 12 who is mentored by a young Snow (Tom Blyth) for the 10th annual Hunger Games. “Katniss was an introvert and a survivor,” Lawrence told Empire magazine about the big difference between Katniss and Lucy.

The role reunites the pair, as they previously played father and son in the DCEU film “Aquaman.” Morrison will also appear alongside Momoa in the sequel “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” due out in theaters in December 2023. “Chief of War” was first reported on in April. Per the official logline, the series “follows the epic and unprecedented telling of the unification and colonization of Hawaii from an indigenous point of view.” Morrison will play King Kahekili, the King of Maui.
