Though there are a million horror films, there are seemingly a much smaller number of actual unique stories to tell in the genre, especially when it comes to sequels. Typically, if a horror film becomes popular, the sequel decides to basically mimic the first film to replicate that success.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been confirmed to be a direct sequel focusing on an “old man Leatherface”.Producer Fede Alvarez announced last year he would be making another film in the franchise, and has since confirmed it will be a direct sequel to the 1974 classic.“It is a direct sequel, and it is the same character,” Alvarez said in an interview with The Boo Crew Podcast.

A little more than a year ago, it was announced that Fede Alvarez was set to produce a new film in the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” franchise. At that point, directors were announced and everything seemed to be going well, albeit the entire production was shrouded in mystery.

Texas is pretty well known for its chainsaw massacres. Over the decades, there have been quite a few of them caught on film, all beginning with the classic Tobe Hooper film from 1974.
