Eva Green Wins Lawsuit Over ‘Career-Killing’ Movie ‘A Patriot’

K.J. Yossman Eva Green has won her lawsuit over the failed movie “A Patriot.” The case, which centered around Green’s $1 million fee for the film, was heard at London’s High Court earlier this year. Green claimed that under her “pay or play” contract she was was still owed her fee, which was being held in escrow by her agent, even though the movie had fallen apart. The production company White Lantern – together with film finance company Sherborne Media Finance, which took over White Lantern once the movie fell apart – disagreed. As well as defending the lawsuit, they counter-sued Green for “conspiracy, deceit and unlawful interference,” claiming she had deliberately sought to undermine the production and cause the film to collapse so she could buy out the script and make it herself.

Eva Green wanted to pretend she was hospitalised to avoid filming “shitty B-movie”, court told

Eva Green wanted to pretend she was hospitalised with a rash so she could avoid filming “shitty B-Movie” The Patriot, a court has heard.Newly disclosed WhatsApp messages from the Casino Royale star brought the information to light during her ongoing legal battle with production company White Lantern, who she is suing over the collapsed sci-fi project. In a message in September 2019, she asked her agent (via The Guardian): “IF they come back to you and say they are going to go ahead with the movie, what can we say…? Could we say this situation has made me ill over the weekend? We could say I had to go to hospital as I had a serious rash all over my body?”Green then asked her agent if a doctor might help the claim, the high court in London was told. The message was referred to during closing arguments on Tuesday (March 14) by Max Mallin KC, the legal counsel for production company White Lantern Films.Mallin said Green was so concerned about having to perform in the film that she suggested her agent, Charles Collier, “invent a story about Ms Green being hospitalised”.They added that Green also “appeared to contemplate faking a broken arm” to avoid performing.Green is suing White Lantern Films and SMC Speciality finance for a $1m (£807,000) fee over the collapsed project, claiming she is still owed the payment under the terms of her “pay or play” contract.White Lantern, meanwhile, claim that Green undermined the project and walked away, causing it to collapse. On the first day of the court case, communications between Green and other individuals –including her agent – were disclosed. In them, she described the project as a “B-shitty-movie” and referred to lead producer, Jake Seal, as “evil” and “the devil”.

How Composer Walter Mair Turned 800 Bars of ‘Musical Nonsense’ into ‘Liaison’s Score and Theme Tune

A.D. Amorosi For Apple TV+’s first French-English, multi-language, adventure series “Liaison,” creator-writer Virginie Brac and Emmy-winning (“24”) director Stephen Hopkins chose evocative composer Walter Mair – known for commercials, video games and compositional elements and arrangements for Netflix’s “Squid Games” – to bring a mix of electronic and live instrumentation to its war-torn, lovelorn storyline. Creating a tensely menacing and intricate score for an emotional tale starring Vincent Cassel (who also serves as executive producer) and Eva Green gives the six-episode thriller an epic, yet intimate sweep. Mair’s textural feel for frenetic movement and incendiary intrigue found the composer utilizing writing and orchestrating skills familiar from his battle work on violent video games such as Rockstar’s “Grand Theft Auto” series, Sony’s sci-fi franchise “Killzone,” and “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction.”
