Directed and produced by and starring China’s top grossing female helmer, Jia Ling, it’s earned close to $482 million in China since opening Feb. 10 — and was the highest-grossing film over the Lunar New Year holiday.

Was Sundance 2024 a bust? Maybe felt that way a little bit, right? Not that many shot-out-of-a-cannon highlights, not that many breakouts, seemingly a bit of a muted festival arguably. But if there was one film that had a lot of rocket fuel to it, it was arguably Rose Glass’ “Love Lies Bleeding,” a romantic crime thriller starring Kristen Stewart and newcomer Katy O’Brien, known for recent turns in “The Mandalorian” and “Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.” Glass is, of course, known for her breakthrough feature, the horror film, “Saint Maud,” which also landed its lead, Morfydd Clark, on the map.

The upcoming 74th Berlin Film Festival looks set to be its starriest edition in years with Kristen Stewart, Adam Sandler, Cillian Murphy, Lena Dunham, Sebastian Stan, Amanda Seyfried and Rooney Mara among the talent due to attend this year.

She effortlessly gives off an “I’d die without you” aura, and there is a tractor-beam power in her stares. Behind O’Brian’s wild eyes, meanwhile, is a person who could either kiss you or brutally stab you to death.

At first glance, “Love Lies Bleeding” might look like another Americana-steeped tale of lovers on the run. But a look beyond its sleek hardbodies reveals that director Rose Glass has once again made a monster movie, albeit one of a different character than the spiritual possession in her scorching debut “Saint Maud.” Here, Glass finds a Gothic-tinged tale of passion and pride burning brightly amidst the embers of the eighties.

Rose Glass (“Saint Maud”) directed the movie, which co-stars Katy O’Brian, Ed Harris, Dave Franco, Jena Malone and Anna Baryshnikov. O’Brian is no stranger to the world of bodybuilding, having done competitions in the past, so she didn’t struggle with the physical aspect of playing Jackie.

Love Lies Bleeding is an intense, queer, unconventional love story between two unstable people. Directed and written by English filmmaker Rose Glass, and starring Kristen Stewart, Katy O’Brian, Ed Harris, Dave Franco, Jena Malone, and Anna Baryshinkov, the film explores the destructive nature of relationships marked by strong performances and a visually arresting narrative.

Stewart told Variety, adding that it’s a change of pace from standard sex scenes in movies featuring heterosexual characters.“All you ever see is a dress coming up and a head going down under,” she said. “I think even hetero sex on film is so rote.

Jamie Foxxwas rushed to the hospital after experiencing a medical emergency, as revealed by his daughter Corinne Foxx on Wednesday.  In a statement posted to her Instagram account on behalf of the family, she disclosed that the 55-year-old Oscar winner had suffered a "medical complication" and was now on the path to recovery. Although the family has not provided specific details about the medical issue, TMZ reported that it was indeed serious enough to warrant hospitalization.

While filming her new film "Somebody I Used to Know," actress Alison Brie was taxed with filming intimate scenes with co-star Jay Ellis.  A seemingly normal request for a romantic comedy, Brie was directed in said scenes by her husband, Dave Franco, with whom she co-wrote the film. "It doesn't make Dave and I uncomfortable," the actress told Jezebel of having her husband's direction during sex scenes.
