EXCLUSIVE: Producer Moshe Diamant, film financing company Chiltern Media, and the Santa Monica-based sales firm Film Bridge International have set a sales and production partnership to launch at this week’s Cannes Market.

Saw reboot, Spiral: From The Book Of Saw, is finally due out in UK cinemas today (May 17).The film acts as a reboot of the long-running horror franchise and focuses on three New York City cops – played by Rock, Samuel L.

Somewhere between 2004’s “Saw” and 2017’s “Jigsaw,” the torture in the “Saw” franchise became a punchline. Their mechanics stopped working—the elaborate devices by Jigsaw and his disciples were no longer believable acts of crafty Boogey-people but screenwriters desperately inventing new ways to die.

After the attempted reboot-quel, “Jigsaw,” didn’t necessarily light up the box office and reinvigorate the “Saw” franchise, many just assumed that Lionsgate would likely just move on. But when you have Chris Rock come to you and pitch a new sequel to the “Saw” franchise, you listen and you do whatever it takes to make that happen.

NME what to expect when Spiral, the ninth instalment in the Saw series, hits cinemas next year.The film, pushed back from its Halloween release date to May 2021 due to coronavirus, is the first “reboot” for the franchise in which Chris Rock (who also executive produced the movie), Samuel L. Jackson and Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale) are set to star.
