Eurovision: Liverpool Mayor criticises “grossly inflated” accommodation prices

Eurovision Song Contest.Last week, Liverpool was announced as the host city for Eurovision 2023, beating Glasgow to stage the contest on behalf of Ukraine, who organisers deemed unable to host the event due to their ongoing war with Russia.Over the weekend since the announcement, accommodation costs in Liverpool for the weekend of the contest (May 13, 2023) skyrocketed, with some reporting fees of up to £20,000 per night. After reports of huge price hikes, event organisers have urged fans not to pay over the odds for accommodation, and hinted that extra provisions will be considered, potentially including “cruise ships or a campsite”.The city’s Mayor has also spoken out against the inflated costings, sharing his disappointment at the “grossly inflated prices”. He told BBC News: “For our area it is a fantastic chance to showcase all that is good in a great city – and beyond.“That is why it is so disappointing to see some businesses in our region who have jumped at the chance to grossly inflate prices.Rotheram added: “I’ve called this behaviour out several times before, especially when football fans have been ripped off for flights and accommodation.”Chris Brown of Marketing Liverpool also told BBC News of his disappointment, and urged fans to not book accommodation at the prices quoted.

Lil Baby Announces New Album ‘It’s Only Me’ for October Release

EJ Panaligan editor Atlanta rapper Lil Baby has announced his third studio record “It’s Only Me” on his Instagram Friday, sharing the album art along with its October 14 release date.A post shared by @lilbaby “I know it’s been a long time coming but I’m coming harder and harder,” Lil Baby wrote. His last solo studio album was “My Turn,” which dropped in February 2020 and has since been certified quadruple platinum. In 2021, he released “The Voice of the Heroes,” a collaborative 18-track record with Chicago emcee Lil Durk. Drake shows support for Young Thug and Gunna with “Free YSL” call in ‘Sticky’ video

Drake has shared an official music video for the latest ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ single, ‘Sticky’, in which he shows support for Young Thug and Gunna as they continue to fight against their recent gang-related charges. The song itself makes a brief mention to the plight of Gunna and Thug (real names Sergio Kitchens and Jeffery Williams, respectively), as Drake raps in the second verse: “Bring them girls to the stage / ‘Cause somebody’s getting paid / Free Big Slime out the cage.” Big Slime is one of Williams’ other nicknames (referencing his titular 2020 joint with Chris Brown), and nods to his label, YSL Records, which is heavily implicated in his legal dramas.During the Theo Skudra-directed video for ‘Sticky’, when Drake raps the line in question, the words “FREE YSL” flash on the screen in bold, animated green text. Have a look at the video below:Williams and Kitchens were both arrested in May – the former on May 9, and the latter on May 11 – pinned with charges that include talking part in criminal street gang activity.
