Peacock has handed a straight-to-series order to Hysteria!, a coming-of-age satanic panic drama thriller from writer Matthew Scott Kane (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia), Dungeons & Dragons filmmakers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, Chris Bender and Jake Weiner’s Good Fear (My Spy, Mulan) and UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Warner Bros. Pictures and Bad Robot on Friday revealed Flowervale Street to be the title of David Robert Mitchell‘s new film, starring Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, and Christian Convery, announcing that it will open in IMAX on May 16, 2025.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Rounding out the lead cast for David Robert Mitchell’s mysterious new feature film with Bad Robot is Christian Convery, the star of Netflix’s top-rated “Sweet Tooth.” Convery joins Anne Hathaway, Ewan McGregor and Sundance breakout Maisy Stella in the family adventure from the “It Follows” director. Plot details are still under wraps for the project from J.J. Abrams and Warner Bros.

Pictures. Stella joins Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor in the untitled feature from director David Robert Mitchell (“It Follows,” “Under the Silver Lake”).

Brent Lang Executive Editor David Robert Mitchell and Maika Monroe are reuniting on “They Follow,” a sequel to the 2014 cult horror hit, “It Follows.” Neon, the Oscar-winning studio behind “Parasite,” will co-produce the movie and release it domestically. The studio will introduce it to international buyers at this year’s American Film Market. Principal photography will commence in 2024.

Production on the Peacock series Hysteria! starring Julie Bowen and Anna Camp has shut down production in Atlanta for the remainder of the WGA writers strike.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter Bruce Campbell has joined the upcoming Peacock series “Hysteria!” in a recurring role, Variety has learned exclusively. The show was originally ordered at Peacock in August 2022. Per the official series description, “When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.”

BreAnna Bell Julie Bowen has signed on to star in Peacock’s forthcoming series “Hysteria!” According to the streamer, the series is a coming-of-age thriller that explores American’s dark history of mass hysteria through the shocking story of the teenage Satanic Panic, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts in the ’80s. As a group, they realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported “supernatural activity” triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them. Bowen will play Linda Campbell, the mother of one of the teenage outcasts. Linda experiences a series of supernatural disturbances that force her to question everything she knows about her son, as well as the growing threat of Satanism in their small Midwestern town.

Pitch Perfect actress Rebel Wilson is on board to star in the high school comedy Senior Year for Paramount Players, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Alex Hardcastle will direct the film about a cheerleader who wakes from a 20-year coma and returns to high school to earn the prom queen crown that she missed the first time around.
