Michaela Zee editor Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” teasing Tom Cruise’s seventh, and likely penultimate, mission as IMF agent Ethan Hunt. In addition to Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Henry Czerny, Vanessa Kirby and Frederick Schmidt reprise their roles from previous “Mission: Impossible” films. “Part One” also stars series newcomers Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Cary Elwes, Rob Delaney, Indira Varma, Shea Whigham, Mark Gatiss, Esai Morales and Charles Parnell. The first trailer for “Dead Reckoning” included a shot of Cruise driving a motorcycle off a cliff. Paramount Pictures offered a deeper look at the impressive stunt with a behind-the-scenes featurette released in December.

Glen Powell, who played audience favorite Hangman in last summer’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” will co-star alongside “Why the Crawdads Sing” star Daisy Edgar-Jones in “Twisters.” The Universal Pictures release, which will be co-financed by Warner Bros., will arrive in theaters on July 19, 2024. and will be a direct sequel to Jan De Bont’s 1996 blockbuster “Twister.” Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari”) will helm from a screenplay by Mark L.

Cary Elwes, star of the beloved 1987 cult fantasy film "The Princess Bride," doesn’t think there’s a shot at it ever being remade Elwes told "E! News" in a recent interview, "There's no reboot." He continued, "There was a studio head one time who suggested that, and he posted it on Twitter, and I responded, 'There's a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one.'" The 60-year-old actor had responded to a 2019 tweet from Variety in which Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra had told the outlet, "Very famous people whose names I won't use, but they want to redo ‘The Princess Bride.’" Elwes paraphrased one of his more famous quotes from the movie in his response, and he said that it "got quite a sizeable response of positive feedback" at the time.

On social media, writer/director Christopher McQuarrie just announced that Rolf Saxon, the actor who played unlucky CIA agent William Donloe in Brian De Palma’s 1996 masterpiece “Mission: Impossible” will be returning for the eighth film, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part Two” (due out in the summer of 2024).If, for some reason, you don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of the franchise, in the first movie Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team, then comprised of Luther (Ving Rhames), Krieger (Jean Reno) and Claire (Emmanuele Béart), stage an audacious break-in at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. This involves sneaking into the “black vault,” an ultra-secure CIA database overseen by William Donloe, an analyst at the agency.

IFC Films has released the first official trailer for the upcoming comedy-drama film, “BlackBerry,” which provides a peek into exactly how the handheld device revolutionized the cell phone industry. Director Matt Johnson, along with co-screenwriter Matthew Miller, adapted Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff’s book “Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry” for the big screen. Johnsonplays BlackBerry co-founder Douglas Fregin in the film, alongside Glenn Howerton as chair and co-CEO Jim Balsillie, Jay Baruchel as co-founder Mike Lazaridis and Cary Elwes as Palm CEO Carl Yankowski. The cast also includes Saul Rubinek, Michael Ironside, Rich Sommer, Michelle Giroux, Mark Critch and SungWon Cho.

Lionsgate is set as the distributor for the action-comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, helmed for Miramax by Guy Ritchie. The film starring Jason Statham (F9), Hugh Grant (Glass Onion), Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Josh Hartnett (Lucky Number Slevin), Cary Elwes (Rebel Moon) and Bugzy Malone (The Gentlemen) will be released in the U.S. on March 3. 

Lionsgate announced on Monday that it has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to Guy Ritchie’s action comedy “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,” which stars Jason Statham, Aubrey Plaza and Hugh Grant.

Jeffrey Ballard, the veteran Hollywood publicist who founded Jeff Ballard Public Relations and represented many of the industry’s top talents, has died after a five-year battle with cancer. He was 64.

There’s more star power on board for Guy Ritchie’s new war movie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which announced new cast additions today before its principal photography starts Feb. 13.

A storm is coming back to movie theatres.

Brent Lang Executive Editor Briarcliff Entertainment has acquired domestic distribution rights to “Sweetwater,” a recently completed feature about Nat “Sweetwater” Clifton, the first African American to land an NBA contract. The drama is written and directed by Martín Guigui and stars newcomer Everett Osborne as Clifton. The ensemble includes veteran actors such as Kevin Pollak, Cary Elwes, Jeremy Piven, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Ri’chard. There are also special appearances by Gary Clark Jr., Jim Caviezel and NBA champion Bobby Portis Jr.  The film follows Clifton (Osborn), who is the star attraction of the Harlem Globetrotters, led by owner/coach Abe Saperstein (Pollak). When New York Knicks executive Ned Irish (Elwes) and Knicks coach Joe Lapchick (Piven) decide it is time for the Knicks to integrate, with the support of NBA President Maurice Podoloff (Dreyfuss), they come together with the other team owners of the league to make history. Briarcliff will give the film a wide theatrical release on April 14, 2023. 

It has been 35 years since "The Princess Bride" first hit theaters. The pic will detail the operations of BlackBerry’s Canadian parent company Research in Motion, which was one of the country’s most illustrious and well-known tech companies before it floundered in legal disputes and eventually lost its market advantage to competitors such as Apple and Samsung. Tom Cruise is living up to his action star reputation! In a video posted to YouTube on Monday, the 60-year-old actor is seen paragliding while apparently filming an upcoming installment in the franchise.In the video, which was posted by Christian Bamber of The Opinion Matters YouTube Channel, Cruise is seen filming the flick in the Lake District of the U.K.The clip starts by explaining how passersby noticed helicopters overheard before hearing through the grapevine that Cruise was in the area filming the movie. While initially unconfirmed, the man in the video believed the rumors to be true when he saw Cruise himself, and the actor happily waved at gathered fans.The video shows Cruise getting into a helicopter and heading up toward the mountains.

James Caan was remembered for his legendary body of work as tributes flooded social media Thursday following the death of the "Godfather" actor. Caan died Wednesday, according to his family. He was 82.  Caan's family released a statement announcing his death on Twitter.
