Movie theater giant Cineworld has weighed in on the growing controversy regarding Universal's decision to release Trolls World Tour on premium VOD instead of waiting for cinemas to reopen post-coronavirus pandemic, claiming that the studio took advantage of the crisis.

NBCUniversal's Steve Burke got compensation worth $42.6 million in 2019, his final year as CEO, compared with nearly $40.0 million in 2018 and $46.5 million in 2017, according to a regulatory filing from pay TV, media and technology giant Comcast. That marked a gain of 6.5 percent.

Comcast chief Brian Roberts, NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell and other division leaders at Comcast will donate their salaries to coronavirus-related relief efforts as the world grapples with the devastating pandemic.

Comcast CEO Brian Roberts and his family have donated $5 million to the School District of Philadelphia so city-wide students have laptops to study from home during current school closures caused by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Comcast, led by chairman and CEO Brian Roberts, said Tuesday that the coronavirus pandemic could mean a "material" hit to its financials, but said it was difficult to quantify the impact. "The impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and measures to prevent its spread are affecting our businesses in a number of ways," the cable giant,which also owns NBCUniversal and European pay TV giant Sky, said in a regulatory filing.

Comcast has named Jennifer Khoury chief communications officer, the conglomerate said Thursday.Khoury will succeed D'Arcy Rudnay, who is retiring after 16 years with the company.
