Elton John has "fondly" reminisced about the time he danced with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle. The British royal passed away at the age of 96 on 8 September and was honoured with a state funeral at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday. After the ceremony took place, Elton took to Instagram to share two photos of him meeting with The Queen and remembered how he once danced with her to Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley & His Comets.

Chris Willman Music WriterJohn Swenson, a veteran of rock journalism’s early years at Rolling Stone and Crawdaddy and later a chronicler of jazz, died Monday at 71 at his home in Brooklyn. He was reported to have been battling cancer for several years.Swenson started writing about music in 1967 and became one of the most familiar bylines in music journalism in the 1970s as he moved between not just Rolling Stone and Crawdaddy but Creem, Circus, Zoo World, Rock World, Beetle, Sounds and the Village Voice.His music writing later appeared in Spin, Musician, Saturday Review, UPI, Reuters, High Times and Stereophile, among other publications.

Al Rappa was a bassist with the pioneering rock and roll group Bill Haley & His Comets.Rappa began playing with the Comets in the mid-1950s, recording and touring with them off and on until 1969. He is featured on their recordings including 1959’s “Strictly Instrumental.” Rappa became known for antics with his stand-up bass, including standing atop it.
