Guillermo del Toro, Jane Campion and Jeymes Samuel are among the honorees for this year’s Final Draft Awards recognizing achievements in screenwriting. Also being recognized at the 17th annual awards ceremony will be Nicole Holofcener, Danny Strong, Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson.

“Yellowjackets” Season 1 finale drew 1.3 million viewers across platforms on Sunday, which was more than double the size of the audience for its season premiere. That said, this past weekend’s episode was not the most-watched of the season — not yet, at least.

According to the paycabler, “Yellowjackets” — the buzzy drama with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and plenty of fan theories — finished its first season this past Sunday as the second most-streamed series in Showtime’s history, behind the recently aired “Dexter: New Blood.”The shocking and ominous “Yellowjackets” finale sent over a million shivers down watchers’ spines, amassing around 1.3 million viewers across platforms on Sunday alone, more than doubling its audience from the season premiere.

Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson are a husband-and-wife writer/producer team from shows like “The Originals,” “Narcos,” and “Dispatches From Elsewhere.” In this episode of The Discourse, the duo sat down with host Mike DeAngelo to talk about putting together one of the biggest hits of the season, Showtime’s “Yellowjackets.” “Yellowjackets” is a show about a female high school soccer team stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash – the show follows the aftermath of the crash in the 1990s and the modern versions of the survivors as they deal with the trauma and possibly supernatural issues that may or may not have followed them home.

Five episodes into Yellowjackets‘ freshman run, the survival drama has been renewed for a second season by Showtime. The series hails from creators/executive producers/co-showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, exec producer/co-showrunner Jonathan Lisco, eOne and Drew Comins’ studio-based Creative Engine.

Showtime has given a series order to drama pilot Yellowjackets, from writers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Entertainment One and studio-based producer Drew Comins. Jonathan Lisco (Animal Kingdom, Halt and Catch Fire) has come on board as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside creators/executive producers Lyle and Nickerson on the series, which stars Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci and Tawny Cypress.
