Mitski has shared the dramatic new video for her song ‘Star’ – watch it below.The dreamy video for ‘Star’, taken off recent album ‘The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We‘, was directed by Maegan Houang.Filmed in the summer of 2023, it is the latest video Mitski and Houang have worked together on, having previously collaborated to produce the videos for ‘Happy’, ‘The Only Heartbreaker’ and ‘Stay Soft’.“Unlike the more narrative/concept driven videos Mitski and I have done together in the past, I wanted this video to encapsulate the impressionistic circularity we all experience,” Houang said in a press statement.She continued: “Our lives oscillate between light and dark repeating itself in an endless cycle where nothing is permanent. 140 new artists added to The Great Escape 2023 line-up

The Great Escape festival has today (March 28) added more than 100 new artists to its 2023 line-up, including Yonaka and Coach Party.The three-day festival is set to take place between May 10 and May 13 and will be based across over 35 venues across Brighton.In a new update, the festival organisers have today confirmed that 140 new artists will attend the mammoth event. The new additions will join over 250 musicians that have already been announced.Alt-rock band Coach Party are among the newly announced acts, as is the British rock four-piece, Yonaka.Other acts from across all genres are also now set to perform at the Brighton-based event – which provides a platform for emerging artists and underground acts.

Arlo Parks cancels US tour dates due to “debilitating” mental health issues

Arlo Parks has cancelled a number of her forthcoming US tour dates to protect her mental health. “I am broken,” she said in a statement.The singer began a run of shows in the States at the start of the month, but said that her mental health has “deteriorated to a debilitating place” and left her “burnt out”.As such, eight gigs between September 14 and 24 have been cancelled for the singer to fly home to London and recover.

Arlo Parks has covered Julia Jacklin‘s ‘Good Guy’ for Australian radio station triple j’s Like a Version segment.Parks’ take on Jacklin’s 2019 ‘Crushing’ cut – filmed while she was in the country for a tour that included Gang of Youths‘ A More Perfect Union festival – stays relatively faithful to the original, filling it out with warm synths.“I chose to cover ‘Good Guy’ because there’s this really distinct sense of melancholy mixed with a little touch of funniness,” the singer-songwriter said during a post-performance interview.“With this song in particular, it’s the kind of brokenness and the sense of defeat in her voice that I wanted to bring out. Also, the recording is so incredible, I wanted it to be live instruments and I wanted it to be in a band scenario.”She continued: “I guess what I did to make it my own is channel my experiences of a similar scenario when I sing it.

Jem Aswad Senior Music EditorJapanese Breakfast, Wet Leg and Madlib were among the top winners at the Libera Awards on Thursday night, the American Association of Independent Music’s annual awards ceremony.The event returned in a hybrid setting, with people from the indie community gathering at New York’s Webster Hall to receive awards, catch a DJ set from Madlib (featuring a freestyle from Talib Kweli) and live sets from Sammy Rae & the Friends and others, while concurrently a livestream of performances from Japanese Breakfast, Brittany Howard, Jason Isbell, Helado Negro and Cautious Clay was played in a separate room at the venue. Also performing live at the event were Tré Burt, Canadian Brass and Adrian Daniel.
