The Rolling Stones ensured they didn’t run out of time to play “Out of Time.”It took 56 years and a prominent place in a Quentin Tarantino movie for the boys to finally bring the 1966 song, which they’ve never played live in their millenia-long touring history, to the stage. The tune’s maiden voyage came Wednesday night on the Stones’ European tour in Madrid (watch the video below, it’s not half bad). The song featured prominently in Tarantino’s 2019 film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” fading up and down during a pivotal late scene in which an aging Rick Dalton returns from a long period of shooting B-movies abroad. The Stones opened their Metropolitano Stadium show with the song that was never a radio hit but endured as a fan-favorite for years, and was successfully covered by other artists, including Elvis Costello.

Jordan Moreau Britney Spears has blessed us with countless hit songs, and so far you’ve been able to listen to them on CD players, streaming services and on screen, but you can now hear her music in a brand new way — in a jukebox musical on Broadway that only uses the pop princess’ hits. “Once Upon a One More Time” reimagines Spears’ songs in a fairytale world, where Cinderella, Snow White and Prince Charming bring the classic children’s stories to life, all while belting out some of the greatest pop hits of the 2000s. The musical marks Spears’ first major project since the end of her conservatorship in 2021, and it was the singer herself who reached out to producers James Nederlander and Hunter Arnold to start collaborating.
Britney Spears voiced her support for the Once Upon a One More Time musical to celebrate its opening night on Broadway on Thursday. The pop singer shared words of encouragement on Thursday night for the cast of the musical, which is "powered by" her greatest hits, including Oops!. .
A.D. Amorosi While it is debatable that the life of the newly emancipated Britney Spears is a fairy tale at present, the singer’s catalog of hits surely has the feel of a fable with feminist-forward empowerment. That’s what writer Jon Hartmere and director-choreographers Keone and Mari Madrid use as the basis for “Once Upon a One More Time,” their Broadway twist on staid, storybook romanticism and tired male-centric tropes. With its giddy, surprisingly caustic script and rapier-fast score, this pop-musical course correction (authorized by Spears, post-conservatorship) is built for speed and social awareness. For the Madrids (known for their work with Justin Bieber and BTS) and Hartmere (who penned 2017’s cinematic dramedy “The Upside”), the goal of empowering women, crushing the patriarchy and rejecting servitude to Peter Pan-like princes is no easy task. First, we must get through a young girl’s bedtime readings of fairy tales filled with docile female leads who place their men on pedestals.
Britney Spears is sending her love and support to the cast of the Broadway musical Once Upon a One More Time on the show’s opening night!
Once Upon a One More Time” — an even worse Cinderella. Two hours and 30 minutes with one 15-minute intermission. At the Marquis Theatre. The dreadful show, which opened Thursday night at the Marquis Theatre, takes the pop songs of Britney Spears and plops them willy-nilly in a feminist Cinders in which the main character realizes there’s more to life than falling in love with a prince.Good for you, Cindy, but wouldn’t it be nice if you were both a freethinking, independent woman and your musical’s story made a lick of sense? It’s bibbidi-bobbidi-brainless.
Bad Cinderella could have been the poison apple that killed off revisionist fairy tales once and for all, but Britney Spears and Once Upon A One More Time, the new Broadway musical opening tonight that brims with her hits and high spirits, has come along to deliver a happy ever after that’s as unexpected as it is enchanting. Smart, funny, splendid to look at and all with a beat you can dance to, this tribute to the Brothers Grimm, the sisters of the Second Wave and, not least, the indomitable Ms. Spears, is a delight.
she did it again.Britney Spears is making a comeback, but not in quite the way you’d expect. This time, the Grammy Award-winning pop icon’s music is taking the Broadway stage in “Once Upon A One More Time.”Expect to hear Spears’ songs like never before at the legendary Marquis Theatre. The musical takes some of her chart-topping hits — including “Womanizer,” “Lucky,” “Circus” and “Toxic” — and spins them into a reimagined fairytale following Cinderella, Snow White and other storybook staples as they find that happily ever after isn’t what they thought. As you may expect, Britney classic closely tie into the storyline — one of our favorite moments was when “Oops I Did It Again” lands right when the princesses discover that they may share a suitor in common.Plus, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the show features a “Succession” star AND “American Idol” Season One runner-up Justin Guarini.Does this sound like a musical you “wanna go” to?Well, at time of publication, we found tickets going for downright reasonable prices. In fact, some mezzanine seats were spotted at just $65 before fees on Vivid Seats.
