Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for its upcoming Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime series.The trailer was unveiled yesterday (August 16), and comes just a few months ahead of the series’ release, which has now been confirmed for November 17 exclusively via the streaming platform.While the trailer doesn’t give much of the show’s plot away, it features scenes identical to Edgar Wright‘s 2010 live-action film, titled Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

UPDATED, 5:45 AM: Netflix has dropped the first-look teaser for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off (official title), its upcoming anime series based on the classic graphic novels and 2010 film starring Michael Cera. Cera reunites with many of the film’s cast including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza and more who lend their voices to the series, which will premiere November 17. At the ongoing Anime Japan convention in Tokyo, the streamer also unveiled “Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune,” another anime series, adapted from a military sci-fi novel by Carlo Zen and set to upload in May. Directed by Abe Noriyuki and produced by Studio Deen, “Ooku” is inspired by tales emerging from the Ooku women’s quarters within Edo Castle and imagines that gender roles are reversed. After a plague threatens the male population women take up positions of authority. The new (female) Shogun Yoshimune enquires into why the women adopt male names when taking power and starts to unravel other mysteries within the inner sanctum. The original manga was published by Hakusensha / Melody.

Netflix has announced the production of a new original K-drama series titled Alone In The Woods.On February 20, the streaming platform took to Instagram to unveil the main cast of Alone In The Woods, its upcoming mystery-thriller series. The new Netflix original will be led by veteran actor Kim Yun-seok, Kiss Sixth Sense star Yoon Kye-sang, Lee Jung-eun (Our Blues) and Go Min-si (best known for Sweet Home).The upcoming series will revolve around a two men, one who owns a motel in 2001 and another who runs a pension (a small, usually family-owned property or room for getaways) in a secluded forest in the present.

Netflix has ordered an anime series based on the acclaimed manga Pluto. The series is produced by Genco, with animation by M2Studio and is set for release later this year.

You might still be playing catch-up with all of the new Netflix original films and series from 2019, but the streaming service isn't going to be slowing down in the new year. Netflix has already lined up dozens of new additions for its library in 2020, from shows that are returning for a final bow to already-buzzy film projects to those titles that are completely new.
