Woody Allen Tells Alec Baldwin He's Thinking About Ending His Directing Career: 'A Lot of the Thrill Is Gone'

Woody Allen is sharing an update about his career.
During a rare appearance on Alec Baldwin‘s recent Instagram Live, the director shared that he was thinking about ending his filmmaking career after his next movie.

“I’ll probably make at least one more movie. A lot of the thrill is gone,” Woody said. “When I used to do a film it’d go into a movie house all across the country. Now you do a movie and you get a couple weeks in a movie house. Maybe six weeks or four weeks and then it goes right to streaming or paper view…It’s not the same…It’s not as enjoyable to me.”
“I don’t get the same fun doing a movie and putting it in a theater,” he continued. “It was a nice feeling to know that 500 people were seeing it once… I don’t know how I feel about making movies. I’m going to make another one and I’ll see how it feels.”
Alec went on to ask about his books, but the pair experienced a few technical issues as Woody‘s Instagram Live feed kept buffering.
Variety writes that the actor could be heard asking someone off camera, “Are they in a room where they have the best WiFi? They need to be in a room with the best WiFi in the house.”
Woody has been the subject of backlash after his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, accused him of molesting her as a child. HBO made a documentary series about the allegations surrounding the director in 2021, titled Allen v. Farrow. Woody has adamantly denied Dylan‘s claims.
